It's been 16 years since the last Vacation movie and Wedding Crashers director David Dobkin is getting the band back together with a new movie. When word of this reboot spread, fans were quick to declare a reboot without Chase and his co-star/onscreen wife of four funny features Beverly D'Angelo would be a travesty. Thankfully, it's looking like travesty will be avoided as Dobkin, in producer mode, has been courting Chase and D'Angelo hard. Variety reports both are in early talks to join the film.

Can't be any worse than European, but likely can't be as good as the original or Christmas. So something along the lines of Vegas sounds about right....

I have weak spot for European...anyone know if it's widely considered the weakest of the earlier films?

Chevy Chase has been a downer for a while for me, either way.

Yeah, he's such a terminal sour puss in real life from what we've seen that is saps all the fun out of his screen persona.

As for a new Vacation flick: I'm predicting it's Rusty trying to take his kids on one like dear ol' Dad w/ Chase & D'Angilo in the (grand) parent role (cameo most likely)

Just a guess. :)

I always thought Vegas was the shittiest one, but I haven't seen European Vacation since I was a kid. Christmas Vacation is ace, however. Easily the best.

the main problem with this idea is that chevy chase hasn't been funny since about 1990 or so...maybe since Caddyshack. chase is another "comic" that i find extremely overrated.
