An investigation is under way after two explosions near the finishing line of the Boston Marathon left three people dead and at least 140 injured.
The FBI has taken over co-ordination of what it described as a "potential terrorist inquiry".
Boston police say officers are working around the clock and all leave has been cancelled.
As with all these sorts of attacks, not only have people died, but others now have to live with the scars and damage for the rest of their lives. People would have lost limbs, eyes, hearing etc :(
At least 17 people are critically wounded, officials say, and the injuries include several amputations.

It's a shame and a mournful event.
Compared to what's going on out in the world, however, this is a minor incident.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is some angry American expressing his dislike for taxes on Tax Day instead of some islamic extremist gutter trash. The conspiracists are already starting to fire up the claims about DHS(Department of Homeland Security) causing this...
Warning....EXTREMELY GRAPHIC!

I can't even begin to imagine being the poor guy who lost both his legs....:(

Yeah, first thing that came to mind for me, as well.

Of, course...

I have a question...the bombs were a horrific thing to do, and whoever set them would be made to suffer, if there is justice. But my question is this...
Do you think that an attack like this warrants almost every TV show to change whatever they were going to do and have "coverage" of the bombing? I mean, all the cable news channels just had wall to wall Boston bomb coverage, and most of the so-called "coverage" consisted of people not knowing anything at all really, and commenting that it would be "premature to speculate". OK, then why have all that coverage? Even ESPN first take this morning barely talked about sports...they talked about the bombing. Couldnt ESPN just say their hearts go out in the beginning, and then have a regular show? Certainly if I wanted to hear even MORE "coverage" of the bombing, I could switch to a news channel.

Because the media gets off on peoples pain. Plain and simple. It sells.

Exactly! It's a venal, shallow and ultimately corrupt business.

Well....I can understand ESPN in this case. It was at a sporting event.

I agree but the people for the most part dictate the direction the media flows. So you can't very well blame them for playing the game.
You have the country split nearly down the middle as far as left vs right wing views....If Foxnews decided to spend the day talking about Amanda Bynes and the list of men she would let murder her vagina rather than the bombings...Tons of people are going to turn over to MSNBC and watch the Boston Coverage in hope of seeing new "breaking" details in the investigation because they can't get their fix from Foxnews. So in turn ratings suffer for Foxnews.
None of our news organizations have went under yet though because they know their viewer base and how to keep them around. If you cater towards the left...you get a bunch of hosts that people on the left enjoy watching and have them report what the left viewers tend to be interested in. Same with the right. So a simple answer as to why they are ALL reporting this is because majority of both sides are (as I said before) hoping to see new details. (suspects, victim conditions, arrests, etc)
I listen to radio a lot and it is quite tiresome to hear the same thing over and over.....Unfortunately for me, the only other news they would be reporting if not for this....would be tomorrows weather, hit and run traffic accidents, and Obama's anti-assault weapon campaign.

It's the Sky News approach to broadcasting what's happening in the world. Every news station in the world is at it now, from Fox to Al Jazeera.
It's become a circus.

Welll...I don't know about that... :shifty:

^^ Maybe having lost both legs (painfully) maybe, for example? I like your thinking!
EDIT: Why didn't they disguise themselves when planting the bombs?

Suspect on the run is one Dzhokhar Tsarnaev from near Chechnya. Seems Islam may possibly be involved in these acts of peace too?

The word is that he was injured on the ground being handcuffed when the other brother got into a car and backed over him before making an escape.

My wife thinks that the rib cage injury was caused by the car(causing an extreme amount of pressure) so he kind of went "POP!" if you get my drift.

I can't actually click on it, as I refuse to give into the whole tragedy whoring and be forced to see even more things I'll never un-see (I have a personal line drawn, on this stuff), but please report it if necessary.

I get the point your trying to make but assume for a min that I had only said..."hey, there is a bunch of d-bags who made a video game of the boston bombing..." It wouldn't have had the same effect as posting the actual video in my opinion.
Posting something to share for your forum community's review doesn't mean you're glorifying it either. ;)

I knew what you meant. ;) I just thought it was funny you posted it but proceeded it with "disgusting" :D
Hey, has anyone noticed something peculiar in the news since the Boston incident? Where is North Korea who was DOMINATING the news for weeks prior to this? Suddenly this happens and NK is no longer a threat?
Clarification: no 'conspiracy' abound, I just find it "interestingly curious" how these news cycles work....

Yeah, so it wasn't the Tea Party after all. Surprise, surprise. You'll rarely go wrong just assuming Muslim extremists are behind this kind of attack.
