The science fiction and horror author Richard Matheson – whose novels and stories including I Am Legend and The Shrinking Man were adapted for the big screen and television – has died at the age of 87.

I think Romero quoted "I Am Legend" as an influence for "Night of the Living Dead"?

Yep, it was a definite influence.

Always like his stories. His 'Twlight Zone' stuff was always watchable.

That reminds me, I must watch the last series of the old show.

Indeed. He wrote some of the greatest episodes for Twilight Zone. There are some great interviews with him on the TZ box set.

Such a shame, but I suppose it was time.

Yeah.

I'm surprised he wasn't dead yet, but he's definetly one of my favorites. I've watched a lot of Twilight Zone, and that form of authorship always interested me. Imagine being able to write short sci-fi stories with a twist at the end for a popular TV-show. That must be the greatest gig ever.

He's like a more sympathetic version of Harlan Ellison.
