Hey everyone,

I read on Dread Central that Rhames is in talks to be in the new Day remake by Steve Miner (Friday The 13th)
They say that he's been cast to link Dawn 04' to the new remake of Day!!

Any thoughts?

I really like Ving Rhames as an actor, but I could see no reason to link the two movies. I would prefer no remake to begin with, but if their is one, give me a relatively unknown cast.

Ving is laaaaame. Pulp Fiction was his high point and that was a long time ago

Just my opinion, of course

Ving is obviously trying to keep busy. Personally I think he should stay away from this before he is stuck doing poor Sci-Fi Channel movies for the rest of his career.

I think because Universal wanted a sequel to DAWN 2004... they are helping finance DAY 2007... This is just speculation, but I will check into with my contact at Universal. :D

However, I find it weird because each actor signed in their contract an option clause to do a sequel (studio option, not actor) Michael Kelly (CJ) told me this back in 2004. So if they signed contracts for sequels... maybe Universal is trying to cash in on those contracts... Ya never know.

I will see what I can dig up.

Anyone else smell that? I smell a big, steaming pile of sh*t coming our way...

I read that Mira Sorvino("Mimic", "Summer of Sam") is also going to be in this sure-to-be-crap remake.

I can see where you're coming from, but I thought his roles in "Striptease", "Out of Sight", and "Bringing Out the Dead" were great. Hell, even his small role in the "Mission: Impossible" films was pretty cool. He had me howling with "Striptease" and "Out of Sight", though. Funny stuff...

Best Lines from Ving Rhames in Strip Tease:

Thug: "What are you, nuts?"
Shad (Ving) "Yeah, psycho. Delusions of invincibility combined with a strong homicidal urge. I have a kick-your-ass fetish."

Shad: "Free Willy" back yet?
Video Clerk: Still out.
Shad: People are pigs! Sit on movies like they own 'em!

I like Ving myself.

But imdb only has one person attached http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0132300/

Eye candy for the gentlemen on the board.

As long as Eddie Deezen isn't cast as Miguel, it can't be that bad.

Can it?

IMDB is usually wrong up until the movie is almost finished filming. You can't trust it......

It is good eye candy, however...

jesus, when will these people realize that the key to a great and scary horror movie is mainly a low budget and unknown actors!

everything now has to be proper and polished!

they can polish this if thats the case!!!!!

NO MORE F#@ING REMAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like most of Ving's movies, and I am not opposed to seeing him do another zombie film, but linking the two and keeping up the same character is going to kill the script. I have this sinking feeling the next movie will be utter crap. :dead:

Creature Corner has an article saying Ving and Mira also.

UPDATE:
This article talks about the remake and says the movies are not connected. I got this link off UHM
Day of the Dead

No official plot yet.

LATEST NEWS

2/01/06
Scripter Jeffrey Reddick spoke with Coming Soon.net about his various projects, one of which was this film. In it he explains how this will be a seperate movie and not be a direct sequel to Dawn of the Dead (2004). Here's more of what he had to say: "We wanted to pay homage to the original with the military and the scientists and the socially relevant stuff that George Romero always does, but we wanted to put a fresh spin on it. There will be similarities, but there'll be differences as well that I think fans will hopefully dig. Steve Miner is directing, which I'm really excited about."

You can check a Land of the Dead DVD ripoff poster art for this film here, thanks to The Arrow.

You guys are going to get a good laugh from this...

From Arrow in the Head (http://joblo.com/arrow/index.php?id=4676):

Holy sh*t, as they say in the military, when it rains it pours. Just YESTERDAY we told you about the news that Ving "I'm gonna get medieval on yo ass" Rhames and Mira Sorvino had both joined the cast of the DAY OF THE DEAD remake. And now today blackfilm is reporting even more casting news!

First off, as they confirmed the rumors with yesterday with Millenium Films, Mira Sorvino WILL NOT be in the remake- who knows where that came from, but it was false. However, Rhames is definitely on board, so that's a plus. Somewhat of a bummer, but hottie Mena Suvari (AMERICAN BEAUTY) is set to star, as well as rap/pop artist Nick f*cking Cannon! Now where the hell did that come from??? Either way, I'm stoked on the cast as it's shaping up to be pretty awesome. Yeah, I'm bummed about Sorvino, but I'd say Suvari's a pretty good replacement.

Still no word on the details of the remake, but we can all hope for some improvements, as the original wasn't 'all that' by any means. To check out the whole scoop, including some of the other confirmed cast members, go ahead and click HERE.

Nick Cannon?   This one may even be more ridiculous than "Dawn04"...

Maybe he only has a Cameo role for a good long shot of Zoms ripping out his intestines and pulling off his limbs. That would be sweet!!!!
