Obviously Left 4 Dead (& its sequel) somewhat redefined co-op play on its release. Indeed I still play L4D2 regularly and have now clocked up well in excess of 1000hrs! :o

So any future title from these developers could prove interesting!

The sci-fi multiplayer-focused shooter pits a four-player crew of alien hunters against a separate player-controlled monster that grows larger and more powerful over the course of matches. Each hunter features its own unique items and abilities, and while the monster may be outnumbered, its size and an assortment of devastating attacks make it a more than formidable foe.

Wonder where this leaves Left 4 Dead 3 though?

This sounds absolutely awesome. Hearing that the developers were inspired by the film Predator has me all kinds of hyped.

Without having played L4D2, this seems really interesting.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out. ie: Who gets to play the alien each time etc?

With L4D it's straight forward. 4 people play the survivors and 4 the infected. Then the roles are reversed... 4vs1 sounds more complicated/uneven!?

There's a similar game mode in AvP2 where almost everyone plays the marines and one player plays the Predator. The Marines work together to kill the Predator, but whoever gets the actual kill is in turn the next Predator. It might work a bit like that.

Can't see that. It sounds like a serious round where the team has to work together to kill the creature. Be damn annoying if your role, although important, doesn't result in the final bullet that kills...

You're probably right. They've probably got something else in order. Maybe a match is 5 rounds. Maybe each character is just something that you'll want to specialize in, so some players will simply have more experience as the monster or the medic or whatever.

It's an old video, but at least it does show the game in action...
