Fine, at work we use 2/3TB servers, but why would anyone want a 2TB system at home? How many games or MP3's would you need???

(the item about the 2TB PC is at 3min:30sec)

I don't think I'd mind it. It would be especially good for editing. The only thing that would suck would be once you finally ran out of space and had to go back through everything and sort out what you wanted to get rid of. Ugh that would blow.

even with dvd quality videos, a tb can easily be eaten up , and even faster for the eventual hd-dvd or blu-ray. on a side note the internal design of the hdd and how it stores data will change to within the next couple of years. i just wish scsi drives would drop in price to .

Depending on the resolution, an hour of video can run 4 to 10 gigs. So it wouldn't take long to fill up that sized drive.

Of course some people need that.
I do audio, Video, graphics.
To have aGiant drive where I don't have to dump stuff so often.
Ve able to keep every program I nstall on the drive would be great.
Having a 500 gig sample library on hand would be extemely useful.
You could have several ginourmous projects going at once.
IF all you do is surf, write a little text, Have some MP3s, no you don't need it.
But I get more HD space and I fill em right up.

Heh, I think I could fill up 2tb in a matter of a week or two. Considering my monthly downstream activity through my newsgroup provider alone is around 250+gb per month (Dj can confirm this) and the other downloading/ripping/editing I do, including all the games on my HD, mp3's, music I've recorded, etc. 2tb wouldn't last very long at all. I would love to have that kinda storage capacity. :D

I say gimme gimme gimme!!!

Such a hard-drive would be excellent for folk like me or Dj who edit (which would mean also that you could keep a lot of footage hanging around afterwards just in case you needed it without having to back up to disc and then copy back again - although you'd still back up for safety!).

Now, my computer has 160gigs of space and it's almost full (games, video and music on one drive ... footage for editing on the other). But then again I get by fine like I am now, so it's all gravy.

But when I get my videography biz up and running (the seed was planted today) I'll have the mula to get a new pootah!

I remember a quote that will answer your question:

"There is never more space, just more porn to download." :moon:

Amen, brother! I could easily fill up 2tb of space with porn. It might take me weeks, but its easily doable.

I've got over 1/2TB on my main machine. These days, 2TB is only about 3 hard drives! Not that bigga deal really... But obviously completely unecessary for most home users!

lol, geez, do you ever burn anything to disc?

I bet you touch wood everyday not to have a hard-drive crash, eh?

Indeed, enough is never enough. As data gets bigger and bigger and people get lazier and lazier to be bothered with the menial (and rather annoying) task of managing hard-drive space, the hard-drives will just get bigger and bigger. Heck, I'm getting an external HDD for the very purpose of shunting data I don't wanna delete off my editing drive (I also make hard copy backups on discs).

Man ... what I'd do with 1 terrabyte ... never delete anything, most likely! :)

I could totally use that....

I only have like 500 gigs....and Im constantly shuffling around the remaining 5 gigs between harddrives just so I can operate certain things.....

Im always forced to burn things onto CDs and DVDs I got so many Disks that its just messy....

2000 gigs isnt even enough man....I could probally fill that up in two weeks....

Give me 50,000 gigs and then Ill be closer to happy....
