Seems we've got a couple of years to wait...

Alex Kurtzman, who co-scripted the two J.J. Abrams-directed “Star Trek” movies, is overseeing a new Trek series set to debut on CBS in January 2017.

It will feature new characters "seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations," according to a CBS press release issued Monday morning.

I haven't really been into the TV series' outside of TOS and TNG(mostly TOS), so hopefully this one can break the mold.

I'm a long-time Trek fan and this would be great news if it weren't for the details. I hated the new "reboot" movies and thus if the new series is going to draw from them it'll have a low chance of awesomeness.
