Zombie Outbreak attraction opens on International Drive

UPDATED 5:42 PM EDT Apr 11, 2016

Zombie Outbreak, a new live-action zombie attraction on International Drive in Orlando, is officially opened.
The attraction at 7364 International Drive opened last weekend in the space for
merly occupied by Wild Jack's Steak and BBQ.
Described as a real-life video game, Zombie Outbreak has guests trying to clear an apocalyptic research facility overrun by the walking dead. The goal is to clear the undead and survive the mission.
The 9,400-square-foot attraction features more than a dozen rooms, including a laboratory with some very real-looking zombies.

During the immersive game, players use replica weapons to shoot and kill zombies, which are played by real-life actors.

The guns – a machine gun and a rifle - are the same types of weapons used in "military and police training," general manager Ken Spriggs told Orlando My Way. The guns are metal and do recoil when shot, Spriggs said. However, the guns shoot lasers, not projectiles.
The zombies wear headbands that respond to the lasers. If shot, the zombies “die,” but they come back to life in eight seconds. However, if a zombie gets within three feet of a player, that person is “bit.”

Each player's stats – bites versus kills - are kept and scores are displayed after the game is complete. Prices to play start at $24.99.

Starting April 15, tickets can be purchased online (https://a.zozi.com/#/express/deadhousellcil/products/140761). Until then, tickets are sold at the attraction.
Spriggs said he chose to open a Zombie Outbreak in Orlando because so many tourists visit the region. There is another Zombie Outbreak location in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.
Orlando is also home to a Zombie Survival Store, the Spooky Empire horror-movie convention and, last year, hosted Walker Stalker Con, a fan convention dedicated to zombies.
Orlando My Way is planning a return trip to Zombie Outbreak for a full report.
