The MeTV Network has started playing all episodes of pioneering 70s horror TV show Kolchak: The Night Stalker:

They played The Zombie episode last Sunday. This was a "voodoo type" zombie, so no amount of bullets would kill it. A dangerous ritual with candles, salt, a needle and some string (to shut the zombie's mouth!) has to be performed in order to be able to kill it

If you have seen The X-Files, you have in fact seen a show that got inspired by Kolchak: The Night Stalker. The whole "investigators of the occult" genre on TV basically got started by that show.

PS: there was a TV show before that which already featured an "investigator of the occult", it was called The Sixth Sense, but its protagonist was confined to investigating parapsychological phenomena. Kolchak's investigations also dealt with actual monsters (witches, vampires, zombies, werewolves, reptilians, aliens, etc.) loose on the streets causing murder and mayhem, which the authorities would always try to cover up.
