So saw this last night...

Really enjoyed it, BUT, I'd have to say some of the sex/violence in it almost felt out of place/character for the film. It felt as if it almost destracted from the film IMHO.

Not seen it yet, but I will watch it.

It's odd seeing what is essentially a monster movie getting all this awards attention - it's pretty cool - especially as this sort of flick is pretty rare to get this level of love from an institution as stuffy as the Oscars. Although, I suppose some of the other themes in the movie help it 'qualify' in the minds of Oscars voters, but maybe things will be a bit less predictable/a bit more varied now that the Academy has had an injection of new members?
