I just read that Frank Darabont made moves to bring TWD to life which is why we see so many familiar faces from Frank's previous work. I knew that but one thing I never knew was that Thomas Jane was meant to play Rick. Which is hilarious because Jon Bernthal was always picked for Shane so it would have been funny to see Frank Castle and Frank Castle in a show together with their complicated bromance lol

Thomas Jane was meant to play Rick.

Always fun thinking about other actors in roles and how they could have worked. For example Tom Selleck as Indiana Jones, which I think could have worked!

Or how different Ben Hur might have been :)

I always thought Selleck would have been fantastic as Indiana. And obviously Ford earned icon for that role.

I’m not sure how much truth there is to Thomas Jane being sought for the role of Rick. Lots of Darabont’s friends appeared in his first two seasons before he was fired, but Darabont’s comments in the first season documentary make it seem he was 100% set on casting Andrew Lincoln. Bernthal was cast first, then Lincoln was cast based off of their chemistry together. If he was seriously looking at Jane for the role, I feel like AMC would have forced it to happen in order to have a “name” in the role.

I am sure after he was bumped from TWD Darabont mentioned in an interview thae he planned to get Thomas Jane a gig on a potential spin-off movie telling the tale of the tank zombie and how he was the last man of a squad on a mission in Atlanta when it went to shit.
