It's been a while since the show leaned that hard into traditional horror movie territory!

What with Maggie's story about that fucked up house she visited (which all went a bit Bone Tomahawk) from a few episodes ago, it's interesting to see we're getting more insights into the real perversity of the ZA now - about survivors who have just gone fully off the reservation and gone completely insane, or are so broken down from their original civilised forms that they're practically monsters now.

This was a good way to bring Connie back and the dude that Michonne met in 10x13. Putting us into Connie's world (silence) ramped up the paranoia and ramped up the peril, too. Man, those creepy cannibal folks were waaaaaaaaay off their rockers (IIRC the continued consumption of human flesh leads to some kind of mental degeneration/madness?) ... crawling about between the walls and everything. Proper creepy!

It was good, though, that it wasn't just that story. It was the A story, but there was some other stuff going on as well. I loved all that stuff with the searching of the house with Maggie et al in the little hideaway and Daryl playing undercover cop etc. Good stuff.

I'm kinda already tired of the new bad guy. A cliched religious nut that somehow people think is worthy of following despite the fact that he can casually kill his own.

Very poor.

The rest of the series so far has been ok.
