Was he? Then why can't he answer this very simple question and has to swallow his pride in front of his men?: "Where will you go, Captain?"

Even though Logan has a couple of screws loose himself, "the old Doc can talk him silly".

The overall right thing to do in NOTLD would've been to go upstairs, block the stairwell, have a ladder up to the attic as a last resort, and observe the situation/signal for help when able from the upstairs windows (or, if having retreated to the attic, knock a hole in the roof to signal help).

I like John's idea in Day. The world's fucked, so let's hang out on a tropical island, sun it up and shag. :D

Agreed - Attic even better!

An attic would be a great place to retreat to, since the zombies cannot reach you, no matter how many are coming at you and even know where you are hiding. But... was the attic in the original Night accessible, though? We can see an entrance to it on the second floor ceiling, right next to the stairs, but we don't know if it is blocked, or if there is no ladder available to access it. Unfortunately, in the original movie the subject of the attic as a possible last-resource retreat place never comes up, it's always the cellar. It does sound strange that it did not occur to anyone in the original. Did the characters know that it was not accessible, but we (the audience) were not made privy of this detail?

I presume it's a couple of reasons - either they forgot about it, or perhaps more likely, if they did go into the attic then you wouldn't have much of a movie. I suspect the latter - but if one was actually in that scenario, hiding up in the attic would be the business. Even without a ladder to get up there, just stack some furniture and haul your arse up there. :D

And whatever you do, don't do a zombie impression out of a window with a mob of trigger happy rednecks outside!
