I wont bore any of you here with the typical vacation type pics, (although I have a ton), but you may be interested in my pics from the "Land of the Dead.

Dont know if I can post all the pics in this post, but I will see. EDIT: It let me post of the ones I tried. Some of them came out at a reasonable size, most are displayed huge. I dont know why, I did them all the same. I apologize for them being so big.

Here I am at the entrance to the underground bunker from Day of the Dead. The temperature immediately went down to 59 degrees in the mine, and just standing in the front was like standing in front of a massive AC.

I think that seeing these columns in person was so cool!

Once inside, I couldnt help but think "And now there are_13.."

Here is a pic as we exited the mine.

I took a bunch of pics of a chopper flying over Downtown. I realized that the pic should be over Philly, not Pittsburgh, but hey, the chopper scenes were filmed here.

Here I am at the airport. There was a fence with a locked gate!! Crap. I didnt feel like climbing the fence, so I stood outside.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l150/Philly_SWAT/MeatAirport.jpg

Here I am at the gas pumps. As you can see, the pumps have been removed.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l150/Philly_SWAT/MeatGasPumps.jpg

Here are the hangers. Nothing in there but a "bunch of junk"
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l150/Philly_SWAT/Hangers.jpg

The back of the airport building is crumbling apart.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l150/Philly_SWAT/BuildingCrumbling.jpg

Here I am at the zombie attack staging area. Cuz I'm a man, cuz I'm a man.
http://i95.photobucket.com/albums/l150/Philly_SWAT/MeatStagingArea.jpg

I was surprised to see a big blowup of Flyboy on top of a building right in the middle of Downtown.

Philly how did you get in. I went in June and was not able to get access. Your pics are cool though. I took several of the mall and did a small Documentry on the mall. Plus got video of Evans City Cemetary. You rule!!!

Philly how did you get in. I went in June and was not able to get access. If you mean the mine, I just drove right in. I even went into the office, and picked up a "Gateway Storage Center" coolie that was laying on the table.

When you were in the mine did you want to scream, "John!!??" and listen for the echo? I would have.. (or did you? lol)
The huge Flyboy must have been a plesant suprise!

That's cool man. How the hell did you find the "Cause I'm a man" spot? I've never seen photos of that place.

Did you ask any natives how long that Flyboy balloon has been up? I would like to know if they leave it up all the time.:rockbrow:

Too bad the gas pumps are gone. Somebody's got a killer piece of Dawn memorabilia in their possession. Great pics Philly.

Well, it was pretty much an echo chamber in there, just talking was creating an echo. I wasnt really sure that I was supposed to be hanging out in there taking pics, so I didnt want to announce my whereabouts any more than I already had.....

I had heard somewhere (somewhere here on HPOTD I'm sure) that the "Cuz I'm a Man" house was right up the road from the airport, which is was, so it wasnt hard to find.

I didnt ask about the Flyboy balloon for two reasons: 1) I figured the people I met outside of downtown probably dont go downtown much, and probably dont even know its there (the first time I saw it, I didnt have my camera. I had a hard time finding it the second time.) 2) I figured that the people I met who worked downtown probably didnt know anything about Dawn.

Understood! - but still....after sneaking around I would have HAD to scream, "John!" at least once. I would probably even throw a rubber bat in the air just to make myself feel better ;). Maybe even carry around a shovel......see? this is why I can't go to places like this......I'm too obvious. LOL

Really nice photos, Philly. Many thanks for sharing.

By the way, I think a nice place to visit should be the The Racket Club Apartments (http://www2.gol.com/users/noman/cool11.htm). In this page (The Zombie Farm), which is the my favourite personal homepage regarding zombies (HPOTD is in another level :) ), its author cites that I've seen it written that Stephen King wrote the novel "Christine" in a room he bought here due to his fondness for DOTD..

Cool, isn't it? Come people from Pittsburgh and enlighten us! :)

Come on man, take a photo and show it here (post it in a new thread), everybody will thank you! I haven't found anything in the Net except the previous blurry one... I'm sure it would be interesting for all of us ;)

Philly, mmm... Tell us how the building looks like! :clown: Did it also creep you out? :)

If you mean the building where the Flyboy blowup is, no, it didnt creep me out. It is a very short building for the downtown area. It is the Downtown Athletic Club. Very normal looking.

Yes, your photos are very clear, that's sure!

Ummm... I think that there has been a misunderstanding. I was referring to the Racket Club Apartments.

Now I was thinking that I don't know which are those buildings you mention in this image:

If one of them are the Racket Club Apartments, please forgive my ignorance :o . This summer I'll buy the DOTD pack (the only original DVD I'll own :)

No, I though you were referring to the Flyboy blowup pic when you said it was blurry. The pic you are referencing now is of downtown PIttsburgh. The Racket Club apartments are over in Monroeville by the mall. I did not think to take a pic of that. The pic that I have seen, on the Zombie Farm I believe, is in fact blurry. It is just a screenshot from Dawn. Sorry for the confusion.

Aww... Yes, it was from the magnificent Zombie Farm...

Don't say sorry, man, not a problem at all... The communication can be somewhat confusing... If I ever go to the US I'll visit Pittsburgh (the west coast of the east coast, as I read in a compilation CD from Pittsburgh's bands) for sure and I'll take a picture of that goddamned building to feel the sight of that cold, distant mall where it's Saturday afternoon for ever and ever and ever...

I admit that I'm somewhat drunk, sorry :)

Best!

Well, if you are so inclined, it is only about 550 miles from Rhode Island to Pittsburgh. About an 8 hour drive. If you get 30 mpg highway, that would take you about 37 gallons, at $3 a gallon, then about $111 in gas. Take a tent, campout in any wooded area you could find. Including a small amount for food and film, for about 16 hours and $150 you could visit many of the same spots I did.

Just food for thought.....
