I think everyone who has the game by now knows which achievements are available. We need more tips. :D
One tip for those still trying to carjack the inmate humvee with the machine gun. When they're chasing after you clear a spot around a tree of any zombies and stay behind that tree. The truck will swerve towards you and most of the time crash into it. This'll give you some time to take a shotgun into the face of the gunner. Once that happens its just repeat the tactic again and take out the driver and passenger. I've only gotten as far as taking out the gunner and the passenger. But I've seen others do this tactic and win out.

I've done a variation of your attack. I use the Uzi to take out the gunner & then the passanger & driver are pretty easy to handle after the gunner is gone. You can take the big gun off the back of the humvee & have some serious fun with that :). If you have some time to kill after they are dead you can take their humvee & take a zombie killing ride around the area :). Mucho fun !! :D

I havent even gone past much of the game outside of the cultists. I've just been happy just restarting the game over and over to gain levels. I probably won't even start on trying to finish the case missions until I've hit level 40 or so.

I've finished the game & gotten the "A" ending & unlocked "Overtime" mode & then beat "Overtime" mode to unlock "Infinite" mode :). I finished my first go round with a level of 35. I'm working on my second go round now :).
If you run into any problems & I can lend a hand just let me know :D.

I've finished the game level 44 with a perfect A ending. Here are 4 tips that are extremely important:
#1: When you are given the scoop about the ride going crazy, follow it up. It does 2 things for you. First, it unlocks a secret passage between Wonderland and the Plaza making most escort mission possible without having to deal with the convicts (who respawn). Second and more importantly, it gives you access to 2 equipable (ie: you won't drop them) chainsaws. With them, almost all of the other boss battles become a walk in the park.
#2: Go in to the parking garage (the entrance is between the North mall and the foodcourt outside) and find the maintenance key early on. This will allow you to skirt various sections and allow easy stacking of chainsaws. Having it also makes the bomb mission super simple. Btw: There is another working truck in the parking garage. Go down the ramp and turn left. Follow the road and you will find 2 trucks, one working, one not.
#3: Directly accross the way from the entrance to the warehouse is a bookstore with a book on photography. Get it and keep it around. When it's in your inventory, icons appear about the zombies heads and it make picking out zombies with queens much easier.
#4: You can quickly stack various items by causing a load and immediately reentering. For example, anytime you are waiting up on the office for a scoop to start, stack sledghammers by going in to the warehouse, getting one, exiting, enter, etc. You can also stack chainsaws really quickly once you get the maintenance key.
Best way to kill the convicts... the sniper rifle. takes 9 shots total (3 per).
Best way to deal with the cultists... don't. After about 3 hours (in game) of them being around you will get a scope regarding their leader. Kill him (with chainsaws... 3 hits) and they never show up again. If they start to corner you, hit a zone barrier (ie: force a load).
If you have other questions, ask.

the mini chainsaw that you get when you finish off adam is by far the best boss killing weapon and it also EASILY takes care of the special forces
also use the sniper to shoot the pilot or the blades of the helicopter to take it down easily

Most of the weapons you get after defeating the Psychopath's are pretty much "ass kickers". The mini chainsaws being the best but don't discount the meat cleaver you get from defeating Larry, the sword you get from defeating Sean or my personal favorite (after the chainsaws), the machete you get from defeating Cliff.
If you have these in your arsenal you'll pretty much be set for anything :elol:.

I hate when the lights go out in the mall . Makes it that much more difficult to make your way through the mall. Those damn zombies like to hide in dark corners & you can't see them until they are on you like white on rice :clown:. Wait till later in the game when you have to take on the Special Force guys in a dark mall :stunned:.

After you get the mini-chainsaws from the clown, can you go back and get them again after they break? Or any psychopath's weapon for that matter?
Also, once you get the Zombie Genocider achievement, you can get the real Mega Buster from Mega Man (not the toy found in the movie theater). Its in the security office once its unlocked.

Yes, once a Psychopath is defeated his or her weapon will respawn. In the case of the mini-chainsaws you have to exit & re-enter Wonderland Plaza for 1 to respawn. With the machete all you need to do is exit Crispin's & go back in & there will be another machete sitting there waiting for you .
After getting the "Zombie Killer" achievement I now have the Mega-Man tights & boots available in the Security Room :). Now I have to work on the "Zombie Genocider" so I can get the blaster & really be Mega-Man !! :D

I finally decided to just bite the bullet and try and finish the 72-hour mode without getting to level 50 first. I was able to get through it real quick once I was able to get the mini chainsaw. I ended up always having 3 in my inventory once a new case begins. I pretty much only took on survivors if and when I had time in-between cases. I haven't gotten the real Mega-Bister yet, but my favorite weapons right now has to be the mini-chainsaws, shotgun, ceremonial sword and the special forces assault rifle. My inventory slot is at 9 at the moment and I always have 2 nectars, 2 minichainsaws, 2 ceremonial swords, and either 1 shotgun and two assault rifles or vice versa.
Now it's time to take on the OT mode.

The mini-chainsaw's make everything MUCH easier in the game :). I have the max 12 slots available & usually have 3 mini-chainsaws at all times. Depending on how far I am into the game I also like to have baseball bats or hunting knives available. I like the ceremonial swords but I don't like the fact that you can't use your kick attacks while it's equiped. I know the jump attack with the sword is pretty nasty but I like to have my kick attacks available. Of course, once the special forces arrive I like to keep 2-3 of their machineguns in reserve :).
I like having Nectar's in my inventory as well but my favorite is the Quickstep. You fly around the mall like Benny Hill :). I always get a kick out of it :).

Quickstep can be made by blending Milk & Yougart. I believe that if you mix OJ with the pie you get Untouchable. I'll try to remember what to combine to make Energizer. I think it's a mix with Coffee Creamer but I can't remember what it's mixed with. I'll post the mixes I get later after I play the game tonight .

Brock is actually pretty easy to defeat. Just stay on the lower level of the tank & when he comes down to you, use your jump kick & then back away. He'll go back to the upper part of the tank & then come back down again. Just "rinse & repeat" till you beat him :). The hardest part is if you get knocked off the tank & have to fight your way through the zombies to get back onto the tank.

Also, when you get Quickstep you'll really get a Benny Hill feel :). Like the old endings of the Benny Hill show. That music will be going through your mind :D.
I just found this & thought it would be useful. Here are the types of juices you can blend & what you need to blend them:
+Juice - How Made - Effect+
-- -------------------------
Energizer - Place (Randomizer + Zombait) in a blender - Frank becomes invinceable
Nectar - Place (Orange Juice + Orange Juice) in a blender - Lures Queen Bees towards Frank
Quick Step - Place (Milk + Milk) in a blender - Increases Frank's speed
Randomizer - Place (Wine + Cooking Oil) in a blender - Restores some of Frank's health, but causes a lot of stomach pain
Spitfire - Place (Snack + Snack) in a blender - Your spit becomes a dangerous weapon
Untouchable - Place (Pie + Pie) in a blender - Zombies will not be able to grab Frank
Zombait - Place (Corn + Corn) in a blender - Zombies become even more attracted to you
*Note: All jucie effects are temporary
** Note 2: A blender can be found at Columbian Roastmasters in Paradize Plaza
================================================== =======
Be careful with the Randomizer !! It will restore your health but you always seem to get the stomach pains at the wrong time. And when you do get the pains you drop whatever weapon you're holding & are vulnerable until the pain passes.

melee weapons are useless since he knockes / shoots you 10ft away when u get anywhere in his sight
get the uzi and go light on the trigger button open the right door and keep the left glass door closed and stick your uzi out and shoot him one bullet at a time he should go down with 60 bullets left in your uzi

I may have found a glitch to help us get "Zombie Genocider" :D. What happened was I started a new game & stayed in the Entrance Plaza right at the beginning & wound up killing over 700 zombies. When I finally got to the stairs & to the Security Office there were no "Case Files" to do. I guess missing the first one caused something screwy to happen with the game.
You still get the calls from Otis regarding survivors but none of the Case Files have been activated & the game didn't end.
One problem though is that the gates to the Entrance Plaza remained closed since the Case Files with Brad weren't done. So any survivors in the Entrance Plaza have to be brought all the way back to the Security Room via the long way. You have to go through Al Fresca Plaza, the Food Court, Leisure Park & then Paradise Plaza . That's a long run with survivors in tow.
I'm going to make my way down to the Maintanence Tunnels & see what I can do & how many zombies I can kill.
I'll keep everyone informed as to how I progress.

I think that the bonus of that map is that it gives you the locations of weapons, food items, survivors & psychos. You'll eventually find them but it's just a bit of a shortcut :).
Now to my prior post. I can confirm that I was able to get "Zombie Genocider" last night :). I guess it's not a glith in the game since I wound up getting a "B" ending even though I didn't solve any of the Case Files. I just made sure to be at the heli-pad on time (made it by the skin of my teeth too).
Man is the "Real Mega Buster" awesome !! Makes zombie chow really easily & takes care of the psycho's pretty damn easy too . With that equipped I was finally able to get 7 survivors to the security room at one time. Now I just need to add one more to unlock the "Tour Guide" achievement :). Gotta plan a little to see if I can get the "Frank The Pimp" achievement as well :D.
Here is a map that shows a good route to take in the Maintanence Tunnels on your way to "Zombie Genocider":

One bit of advise for "Infinate Mode" is to make sure you have both of the Health Books in your inventory. That makes it much easier to survive for longer since it doubles the effects of each of the food items that you use. If you have one of the blended juices you can almost replenish your health totally even if you're down to 1 bar.

Make sure you arm all the survivors that will take weapons. I think 4 of the 5 you escort after defeating Sean will take weapons from you. Cheryl is the only one that won't. If you need weapons for them just go out into the hallways of the theatre & there will be a few zombie cops to kill that will drop handguns & nightsticks. Also, set waypoints in areas that are somewhat zombie free & move forward yourself & clear another area.
Hope that helps a bit. Enjoy the rest of the game .

Oh, I had the same problem getting all the survivors from Movieland chomped on. The second time around I gave them all weapons who could carry one and made sure I had several minisaws and queens bees. With the three books to make the minisaws last forever I just chucked several queen bees to create a gap in the mass and just wayliad those trying to close the gap with the saws.

Cheers for that mate, but I've found whenever I give someone a weapon they stand around too much trying to shoot zombies and end up getting themselves killed. What I did was free them all and then try my VERY VERY best to get all of them back to the security room and if they insist on getting killed, thats their problem. I think with all the people I rescued from Sean only Cheryl managed to make it back. What a bunch in suicidal people. lol

hey guys long time no post A: because of college and B: ive been ill over the last week.... which meant a good length of time playin' dead rising :D
im stuck at the bit were i need to get into the maintenance tunnels but i gotta say, unless you die a few times, which i ve since im at lvl 44:p its pretty short ive saved around 30 people and its been about 5 hours this time.
so heres my view so far, good game, not as fun as stubbs the zombie mind, but still damn good you have to die a few times to be abel to get good enough to manuvoure (god did i spell that wrong, oh well 2:30 AM for ya') around, the story is lame, but i didnt expect gold but the atmopshere is cool, though i dont like how the number of zombies constantly increases that gets annoying when youre leading someone by the hand, and how some characters get stuck on plants they knock over.
and ive killed the prisoners times, why do they keep coming back?!?

For some reason, I killed the convicts and then never saw them again, I think it might just because you can get around by avoiding the park after hours, make the most out of the hidden tunnel to wonderland plaza in the female bathroom.

Those 2 can be a pain to rescue because you get the call right while you are doing "Medicine Run" & your time is limited. The one bonus is that you get to carry Ross & Tonya isn't as dumb as some of the other survivors & she doesn't run full bore into a horde of zombies.
What I do I clear a small path from the sports store to the stairs & then go back & carry Ross all the way to the bathroom & set a waypoint in the bathroom so Tonya will make her way there. I then go out & clear whatever zombies might be in Tonya's path. I usually make it back to the Security Room with enough time to not fail the case file.

k, after finally finishing the game i gotta say, while impressive im many ways and with lots of replay value, i think i prefer stubbs the zombie on the xbox myself.:)
I really liked Stubbs as well but personally, I had more fun & continue to have more fun with Dead Rising. I think that Stubbs would have benefitted if it had achievements to shoot for like Dead Rising :).

Yeah, I like using the unarmed moves alot as well. That actually lead me to being able to get the "Zombie Genocider" achievement. I stayed in the Entrance Plaza at the very beginning & killed 700 + zombies with my bare hands. I wanted to work towards the "Karate Champ" achievement. When I got to the Security Room I had missed the first Case Files & didn't have to do them for the rest of the game. Gave me time to go to the maintanence tunnels & rack up numerous kills :).
Wait till you get the Real Mega Blaster !! I love using that !! It's a huge help when you are transporting surviviors to the Security Room.

Is it just me that's having a really hard time with this game? Understand, I'm a long time video gamer and I completely dig new games.
But DR is really a pain. Its hard to read what's on the screen (seriously, the little icons for the controller are unreadable), I'm having trouble finding the way back to security room, when I find survivors and get them to join they won't follow and (to top it off) I keep getting killed. I've only been able to find two save points (one right when you walk out of the courtyard back into the mall after shooting it out with Carlito (that was a pain in the ass of a boss level) and the Sec Room which I can't seem to find again.
Make no mistake...the game is COOL. But its getting very frustrating. I also don't know how to use waypoints at all. Sigh.

Geo I know how you feel, a few things to note:
-Every bathroom is a save point.
-Use the waypoint option to guide survivors (hold R trigger, point to where you want them to go, and hit Y)
-Hold survivors hands or carry them, if the option is given
-Give survivors good weapons, like guns, chainsaws, sledge hammers, etc.
-Just remember to go to Cams Camera shop in Paradise Plaza, to the right of it there is a door that leads back to the security room
-Make sure you kill the psycho clown in Wonderland Plaza, you get the mini-chainsaws, they rule
Once you learn the mall layout and level up a bit (at higher levels CDs are like shurikens), the game becomes much more fun. You run faster, you're more powerful, and you can unlock some cool stuff.

k, so ive just got both snuff shot achievements and finished 'the facts' case and now its about 1:00am and the armys appeared, what the hell do i do now and were did the 30 people i saved go?
What you have to do is survive till 10:00am when you should be in Carlito's Hideout to meet with Isabella. The special force soldiers may seem hard to defeat but when you run into them use Adam's chainsaws & that will handle them with no problems. Then you can take their machineguns to use against the zombies.
To rack up more kills you can use the time until 10:00am to go into the Maintenance Tunnels & just mow down zombies. Take the red car from Lesuire Park & at the bottom of the ramp go left & follow the tunnel to it's end at Seon's Food & Stuff. Take the truck & follow the tunnel to Paradise Plaza where there is a white car. Just use the map that I posted previously in this thread. Just be careful not to break down in the middle of the tunnels. Makes it very difficult to get out unharmed.
how do you get the maintenance tunnel key
Have you done the "Bomb Run" mission yet ?? After you get the 5 bombs out of the tunnels & if you have some extra time (you don't need too much) you go back into the tunnels with the red car. At the bottom of the ramp make a right turn & then make your first left turn. Go a short distance & make another right turn. You'll see a door ahead of you. Go into the room & in the back to the right is the tunnel key. There is also a sub-machine gun to the left & some food items in the cardboard boxes.

Or how do I perform the "scoops" before they run out??

First to the Uzi question.. CoinReturn mentioned the Uzi in the Al Fresca Plaza fountain. There is also an Uzi above the entrance to the warehouse in Paradise Plaze. There is also another Uzi in the room in the Maintanence Tunnels.
Ok, now that you have a survivor, you need to get them back to the security room. Set waypoints for them away from trouble & clear the way for them so that they don't get eaten :). Make sure to not go too far ahead in clearing out an area or more zombies will spawn right where your survivor is & they can be screwed !! If the survivor will take a weapon, give them one. It helps !!
The indicators on the top right of you screen are the "Scoop" & "Case File" indicators. They are either blue, yellow or red to indicate the time you have left to perform the tasks.
I have a PDF (Adobe) file that I downloaded from IGN that has a walkthrough, basics, scoops & secrets in it. If you want, PM me your e-mail address & I'll send you the file.

Like hellsing, I used the motorcycle but I used it for the first 2 bombs (make sure you have 2). Then I basically waited for the fight with Carlito in the van. Make sure you have the mini-chainsaw & just go to town on the front/driver side window.
If you defeat Carlito you'll get a cut scene. After the cut scene run straight ahead & you'll run to where the white car is parked. With the white car you should have no problems getting the other 2 or 3 bombs before time runs out. The last bomb will be outside the meat processing plant & you'll be able to take the van if your white car is on it's last legs.
If you want to get the achievement for "Snuff Shot B", take the red car back into the tunnels after bomb run. Go right at the end of the tunnel & then take your first left. Next, take the first right & you'll get another cut scene. You can pretty much follow from there :).
Good luck !!

There are a couple of things that you can do to earn more PP. You can ride the Space Coaster which will get you 10,000PP. In Al Fresca Plaza in Flexin' you can punch & destroy all the heavy bags for extra PP. You can also walk on all the treadmills for extra PP.
11 Achievments left to go for me.

why not just leave it on when you go to sleep in the security room?, im at about 24/50 achievments though i aint been trying to hard, some like the zombie genocider seem impossible, and getting 50 people out the mall, to my mind i think theres only 70-75 people in the game, i saved 38 and lost 10 straight away, and killed all the bosses, so how i was supposed to get 50 i dont know.
but here the easy gamerpoints.
freefall 20-points -when you head into the warehouse after the security room dont take the lift, go through the door and drop.
portraiture 20-points ,veyr easy this one, in the entranc eplaza the 10 people who die at the start, take photos of em before reaching the pile of stuff at the back.
photojournalist + the artiste -40 points ,when you meet the couple on the roof before you enter the mall again take there picture when the reconicle for an easy 10,000pp for a single photograph.
raining zombies 20-points during the first caseyou head with brad to the entrance plaza, pick up a parasol after the cutscene and run with it open to the door as you head back for another easy 20 points.
perfect gunner 20 points- take your time with the uzi above the warehouse door in the north plaza ,make a good aim at a slow zombie and shoot a single shot and if you hit dont use another machine gun again for the game, that way youve never missed.
marathon runner 20 points- very easy all you have to do is move.:D
carjacker 20-points, in the first zombie break in in the entranc eplaza fight to the right of the fountain and pick up the shotgun, then after you do the first case use it on the convicts and just get in there un manned car, simle as that.
those ar ethe easyiest ones, anyone know how i even jump a bike or a car?

That would be great if you could just leave the game on while you sleep but they didn't make "Infinate Mode" that easy. You lose health continually throughout "Infinate Mode". Kind of like if you don't eat you lose energy. Same deal here. You life bar continually goes down. Not fast mind you, but it does go down. And the food items in the mall don't re-spawn like they do in the regular game. The longest I've made it is 2 days + so far. You have to make sure you have the books that increase the effect of the food items to even have a remote chance of getting these achievements.
Let me think on how I got the "Saint" achievement . When I remember how I did it I'll let you know :).

I don't know if you've gotten the "Zombie Genocider" achievement yet, but having the Real Mega Blaster makes it MUCH easier :). Plus, make sure you have at least 2 of the 3 health books (2 health books & survival book). Having 2 or all 3 make it that much easier as well. Say you are down to 1 bar in health & have an orange juice or milk, I've gone from that 1 bar all the way to 12 bars with just the one juice or container of milk.

since the whole game is kill or lead, just follow the arrow for each scoop, i was a little annoyed but once youve got all the achievements i.e: played it to death it really aint that special in my opinion and thats just one of the things that let it down, overall its incredibly repetitive, kill zombies/psychos, lead survivors to the same spot each time, and thats basically dead rising to a t.:bored:

the majority of survivors to rescue seem to be in wonderland plaza and north plaza too, which means your given a choice of trying to run back through al fresca, which is always packed with zombies and is impossible becuase the survivors always try to fight them and ignore you when you tell them to run OR take a run through the leisure park, which results in those psycho's killing you and your party...

clown? what clown?

I havent gotten there myself, andy, but I came across this one day. Maybe it will help. It's from THIS (http://www.1up.com/do/feature?pager.offset=8&cId=3152848#DR5) website.
Easily one of the craziest bosses, a demonic clown named Adam dual-wields chain saws as his primary weapons. And, as if that weren't enough, he also throws knives and blows up balloons with toxic gases. Have your game saved before engaging this guy -- the nearest save spot is over in the athletic store next to the food court. Across from the save point, put the hardware store to good use by stocking up on hedge clippers -- they attack fast, are extremely durable and, best of all, are small enough to store in your pocket (how does that happen?).
After equipping yourself with the proper arsenal of weapons, proceed to the food court and put a bottle of wine into an empty slot of your inventory for health reasons. Now go into the Wonderland Plaza and head up the stairs to the control deck of the space ride. Find the controls for the ride and press the B button to activate the cut-scene, in which Adam the clown divulges his appetite for laughter and prepares to fight you.
Unfortunately, it also goes on to tell you the easiest way to beat him(along with every other boss and secret). So if you want to figure that stuff out yourself, I suggest you don't read all of that webpage.
Danny
10-Jan-2007, 11:31 PM
I'm not quite sure what the best way to kill them off is but I do know that no matter how many times you get rid of them they'll be in the park causing mayhem the next time you visit. They're a pain in the arse.
actually they only appaer once each day and on the last day are replaced by a helocopter, get the shotgun from the weapons store or the entrance plaza and lure them into a group of trees, they'll get stuck and you can easily blow em away, but once you beat the clown you get a shortcut to avoid the area anyway.
to fight the clown guy just go to the console in the ride at the centre of wonderland plaza and press 'x', hes a toughie though.

i grab the submachine gun from the bottom of al fresca when im on my way back from the last case with brad in the entrance, then go to the security room, go back to the north plaza and fill up with katana swords, and work my way through wonderland back to the food court, back to al fresca. in the time it takes you to get from the north plaza back to al fresca this way, 3 survivors appear there (2 guys in a womens clothes store and a women in a jewellery store), i save these and make my way back to paradise through the leisure park, where by now the psycho convicts have appeared, i use the sub machine gun to kill them, get a hefty PP award and make my way back to the security room now with 4 survivors, where i get another hefty PP award for bringing 4 people back at once.
its usually late into the night by the time youve done this routine and there should be more survivors cropping up if you wanna go this way, but i usually try and take out the psycho in the gun shop too on the first night and if i get time, go get the maintenence tunnel key from the basement, by the time you've done these, it'll be at least 6am.
as for the "image on the monitor" thing, cant help you there. never done that one myself.

ive played through 3 day mode twice now, solving the cases still eludes me but ive got to level 45 lol
hey just out of curiosity, what happens if you miss the helicopter on day 3?
i think im gonna do that this time round if i dont get all the cases.
you see the chopper guy on a nearby roof looking at the helipad crowded by soldiers and he basically says "tough luck pal" and thats it.:bored:

ok change of plan, im going for zombie genocider. i want that gun.
i figure once i have that, solving all the cases will be a peice of piss.
its 7am on day 2 and i have 17,000 kills. is that good?

I just got zombie genocider! W00T! That was pretty fun and didn't take that long. Now I'm just letting Frank stand around the security room for about 28 hours until the game ends that way I can start a fresh game with the M Buster.
If anybody is having trouble getting the zombie genocider here's a little map you should use:
http://faqsmedia.ign.com/faqs/image/article/726/726004/dead_rising_zombie_genocide.jpg
Start with the red car, follow the path on the map, get the delivery van, follow that path to the white car, take that path back outside to a fresh red car and do it all over again. It probably took me about 3 hours to do but for some reason flooring it through tunnels full of zombies (with explosions!) just doesn't get old for me.

yeah around the other side of the machine in the exit area of the room they will be in boxes/paper bags but the buster will be on the floor, its good against bosses but its fire rate is way to slow for a big crowd of zombies.

holy schit overtime mode is hard!
ok so ive been on dead rising all day and all night, seriously i started playing when i woke up (about 11am) and im still playing now (its now 4am next day).
i did all the case files, unlocked overtime mode, using my megaman gun, i got through overtime mode without being killed and got the true ending so i now have infinite mode. which im playing now.
only problem is im 2 days into infinite mode, food dosn't respawn AND I CANT SAVE IT!
Danny
18-Jan-2007, 12:52 PM
y'know overtime mode is like 16 hours of non-stop gameplay.:D
MikePizzoff
18-Jan-2007, 01:04 PM
y'know overtime mode is like 16 hours of non-stop gameplay.:D
What?!?! Not 16 real-life hours, I hope? You mean 16 in-game hours... right???
Andy
18-Jan-2007, 02:16 PM
no i dont know where he gets 16 hours from :rockbrow:
overtime mode is a extra 24 hours of game time that takes place after the main game finishes IF you get the A ending.
its 24 hours of game time which is not 16 hours of real time and you get plenty of save points, so you dont have to do it all at once either :p
infinite mode however, is a pure survival mode, it goes on and on and on until you die.. your health is constantly degenerating so you need to find food all the time, but it dosn't respawn.
you can only unlock 5 day survivor and 7 day survivor in infinite mode, to unlock 7 day survivor (im informed by a very reliable source) takes 48 hours of REAL TIME, without saving and without stopping.
Danny
18-Jan-2007, 02:20 PM
7 day mode is the one im on about.
well 5 mins in real life is one hour in game ,7 days is 168 hours, which means (does the math) it takes 14 hours without stopping the game, hey only 2 hours off:)
MikePizzoff
18-Jan-2007, 03:08 PM
14 hours... are they insane? It's safe to say I'll never complete 7 day mode.
Andy
18-Jan-2007, 03:29 PM
if you get 5 day acheivement unlocked, you get the real laser sword which is apparently more powerful than the real megabuster and has the best attack in the game against zombies (if you do a double lariat with the laser sword, it stretches out to about 15ft and just kills every zombie in that range).
:D
i going for 5 day mode now. if i can stretch it out to 7 all the better, its not that bad actually... just settle down with your xbox, your PC, some music playing or a DVD or something, get a cool drink ready and go psycho hunting

Weird. I killed the convicts on day two, just after midnight. It's now day three (about 30 hours later) but the convicts haven't respawned. I searched all over the park and they're nowhere to be found. I thought they came back every midnight???
Danny
19-Jan-2007, 12:57 PM
they get replaced by the "hella copter" on day 3 but you need to trigger the army cutscene first.
Cody

Did you use the books to maximize your food/health ?? If you have the 3 books in your inventory you can triple the effectivness of the food items:
Grab all three food books. Stalls E201 (Entrance Plaza)-The Sinister Read (Health Book 1), W204 (Wonderland Plaza)-Sir Book-A-Lot (Health Book 2), and the Empty Store-North Plaza-key from Crislip psycho (Survival Book) will
all have food books that when held together, will triple the life you restore from each food item. This means one apple will now recover three life blocks instead of one.
With the larger food items (milk, orange juice & mixed juices) I've gone from 1life bar all the way to full health. That makes it much easier to survive.
I want to go for the 7 Day Survivor but just haven't had the time needed to accomplish this. One of these days I'll get it though :).
Andy
22-Jan-2007, 05:20 PM
yeah had all 3 health books, had the book which makes bladed weapons last 3 aslong, only weapons i used were the katana and small chainsaws (when adam dropped them), kept my megabuster aside for psycho's.
all i kept doing was running around the mall, grabbing 4 or 5 peices of food then running to a safespot, letting my health deplete to 1 block then eating to recover it, repeating until i'd eaten my last peice of food, then running back into the mall and getting another 4 or 5 peices.
safespots around the mall in infinite mode are the blue canopy in paradise plaza, the roof of the picnic hut in the leisure park, 2 empty stores in the north plaza (close doors behind you), carlito's hideout in the north plaza, any cinema in colby's (close doors behind you), the fountin in al fresca (where the submachine gun is), the gym in al fresca, the antique shop in the entrance plaza (close days behind you).
thats it as far as i know... the security room is NOT safe in infinite mode. dont make that mistake.
oh and by the way, it was the crislip psycho who killed me in the end.

Andy, I believe that might be Tad. He is a guy being held by Kent the crazy photographer. You have to make sure you are at the second meeting with Kent on time so that you can rescue him. If you are late, he'll be dead by the time you get there.
I hope that was the answer you were looking for.
I to want to eventually get all 50 achievements. I have 48 now & only need 5 Day & 7 Day Survivor to complete the full 50.

I got 5 day survivor, i managed to live until about half way into day 6 then the machette guy out of crisplips killed me. i was seriously gutted, im gonna go for 7 day survivor again! by the way, the laser sword is amazing!
The acheivements ive not got are :
Tour Guide
Frank the Pimp
Full Set
Gourmet
Census Taker
Psycho Collector
PP Collector
Transmissionary
7 Day Survivor
Alot are stupid ones im sure i should have, like Full set, tad is the only person missing in my notebook so thats mine easilly.. im sure ive eaten everytype of food but i havn't got gourmet yet, but again i wont use a guide like everyone says... i want all 50 acheivements without a guide. 7 day surivor was in my grasp until that machette guy took it off me.. ive been taking photo's of every psycho and every survivor i find, but psycho collector and census taker still evade me..

Out of the acievements you haven't gotten I had the most trouble with "Frank The Pimp".
For "Gourmet" you have to make sure that on top of all the food you have to eat you also drink every combination of juice that you can make.

I just put the gourmet list in WordPad and after every food I'd eat I'd delete it off the list. Easiest way to keep track of what you've gotten and what you need to get.
Danny

To be honest, the only ones that are causing me worry are Gourmet and Transmissionary... gourmet becuase it wont give it me even tho i have met the requirements and transmissionary becuase everyone ive spoke to says its the hardest acheivment in the game.
did you remember to let the frozen foods spoil and then eat them again?
Cody

i thought frozen foods became well..un frozen foods
Andy

Golden Brown Pizza, Uncooked Pizza and Spoiled Pizza.
Well Done Steak, Raw Meat and Spoiled meat.

I Feel so embarrassed... i about gave up on this acheivment and went on a rampage, killed some zombies, took some damage.. drank some coffee creamer to heal the wounds and it gave me gourmet :|
At least i can concentrate on the big four now, Saint, PP Collector, Transmissionary and 7 day survivor.
Cody
16-May-2007, 11:46 PM
that was lucky
Andy

i guess so but coffee creamer of all things, i still cant help but feel stupid.
Danny

Cody
18-May-2007, 03:51 AM
thats weird what do you usually use for health? coffee creamers and OJ are always always my choice.
Danny

just a little tip on saint, drink "untouchable" and "zombait" while ascorting survivors. that way all the zombies will be drawn to you and cant hurt you

Zombies can still hurt you when you have untouchable on, they just get so close and then lose interest in you.. but if they lunge or fall or punch or anything and you get hit, you still get hurt.
So in other words you cant stand still :p
And i normally use wine for health, it heals the most health of any food and there's loads of it in the food court i just stock up then i dont have to stop as much around the mall.

*makes mental note ... get Dead Rising guy pissed up on wine for best effects*
What's this "untouchable" thing?
Sometime next week I'll be joining the Dead Rising army...*rubs balls* Ah mate...I'm so impatient...
Cody

ive been seeing alot of rubing ball posts from you lately minion. you need to go take care of your business before you log on here.
untouchable is a drink which makes me "untouchable" by zombies...they cant hurt you..its made with a blender and 2 health items
MinionZombie
18-May-2007, 07:06 PM
How long does this untouchable thing last for? Any two health items?
Interesting...
I'll go rub my balls in another room, eh? :D
Danny

ENOUGH WITH THE BALL RUBBING!
*ahem*, anyway, the drinks last a couple of minutes, some lure zombeis to you, others make you faster or stronger stuff like that.

w00t, lovin' Dead Rising, just running around the first part of the mall killin' zombies at the moment, but the light's have gone out and it's scary. :p:lol:
Anyway, what's with the mosquito in a tub thing? I accidentally busted it on the floor after my manequin torso blew up from too much beatin', what's all that about?
I'm just going to run around and see sh*t go down, slay zombies and save the odd person for the entire 72 hours this time around, get used to the game you know...lots of fun anyway.

So what do I do then?
Do I kill the zombie with it's arms in the air to kill all the zombies in that localised area?
Cody
23-May-2007, 09:24 PM
well to make things clear the a few zombies have there hands up in the air but the ones that dont attack you are the ones with the queen, although they will throw up blood on you.
anyways kill the zombie and capture the queen. throw it on the ground in a heavily infested zombie area such as the underground tunnels and every zombie in a 20 foot range will be dead.
careful though if you throw the queen on the ground at the night the worms that come out will attack you and glow green

I hastily used my bug in a jar again, but I saw it nail two zombies ... but I'm still in the wee hours of the morning (now about 2am, something like 57 hours remaining or something...), so I saw this green thing and stamped on it.
Once it's light again I'll venture outside and see the rest of the mall, but I'm ignoring the transceiver and the missions, beef my stats first before I bother with any of that sh*te...I just wanna slice and dice, and I've sliced nearly 400 so far and I've barely had time to play it...it's quite nice just to sit down and slice up zombies for half an hour. :)

That's what I first did. Wait until you go for the Zombie Genocider achievement; killing nearly 57,000 zombies in one run-through of the game.
Danny

see if you an beat my record of like 173,000 zombies killed:cool:

Somewhere over 700 zombies killed now, I've ventured into Movie Land or whatever it's called - the cinema - bloody dark in there, what-what.
I took the shopping cart with me in there, but he was holding it rather than pushing it, how do I get him to use it differently, like switching back and forth between uses?
Lots of fun bashing a broom on them, then skewering them.
Next up - venturing outside...now that it's morning, it's safe to do that, haha...and I've visited the bog in the cinema, so none of that 3 load zones before I get to kill zombies.

Been venturing around the mall some more, the food court was nice looking, but not enough fun to be had, went upwards from there to the part with lots of jewelry stuff - again, not that much fun, but ho-ho-yes onto the gun shop and the DIY store! :elol:
Anyway, I'm back at the security room (after loving the elevator FULL of zombies), anyway, only about 13 hours till the chopper comes back, what I wanna know is:
Do the stats I've built up pass on to the next time I play the game? It'd suck if I'd go through all that and then the next time I play my stats are all back to sh*t again...so do I keep the stats next time I play through?

so its wise to just go nuts a few times till you play the game proper, oh adn you level up faster if you fight the zombies at night.

How are you guys with fighting psychopaths barehanded?
you ever tried it?
i might video myself fighting adam barehanded and put it on youtube :)
Danny
28-May-2007, 02:43 AM
 legendary.
i basically steal the minigun off the convicts van at the start and basically pump adam full of enough bullets to turn him intoa fine paste, then use his cahinsaw on all the other bosses:D
Cody
28-May-2007, 03:48 AM
never tried it barehanded. it might be a bit more of a challenge. I ususally kill adam with the bush clippers. just cuz its so cool. take his 2 saws and get the 3 books for them.
Danny
28-May-2007, 05:03 AM
yeah , samurai swords are very cool but they dont last very long, i spent the first playthrough using the guitars (i didnt figure out i could leave the first plaza with the upstairs resturant and the cinema so i pent a few play throughs in there just fighting zed's:o ) then i got used to stuff like the weaposn in the antiques store, the queen's and mannequin torsos.
i never really liked using guns, though if theres one thing zombie movies taught us is its allways better that ,rather than stop and take aim with a gun you run at the zombie screaming like a bat out of hell adn twat it upside the head with a 2X4:lol:
Cody
28-May-2007, 05:49 AM
yes the good old 2x4
MinionZombie
28-May-2007, 11:32 AM
Dizzamn was it fun slicing zeds in two with the katana, although damn straight, they barely last - same as the chainsaw...the rototiller lasts longer though, the lawnmower was fun as hell, but I must have got some zed stuck in there as after a while it wouldn't move very far without conking out...the scythes were also sh*t-hot...as for guns, can't beat a shotgun, those are great. My aim has improved a lot with guns of late, but if only when I aimed Frank would aim in the direction my camera is pointing (i.e. where I am looking) rather than where he is looking (e.g. facing me).
Also, I went back to the gun store recently and there's a bunch of people in there who just shot me dead (funny how it takes an extraordinary amount of bullets to kill you, yet one nibble from a zed takes at least one whole block )...I managed to start talking to one of them, but could barely make out the text whatsoever...the dude didn't wanna come to the chopper or something, but as soon as I moved away from him, they started shooting again!!! Do I have to sweeten the deal a bit more before I can nab some more guns, or what?
Also - what goodies am I missing out on in the Entrance Plaza? Just so I know for the next time I play through.
Sweet, I'm glad your stats carry over, more fun to be had on the next play through, I'll be aiming to sit out the final 11 hours-ish and wait for that chopper, I take it I have to be sat outside near the heliport thingy at 12 - i.e. ready & waiting.
Next time through I'll explore the entrance plaza and the one (on the map) just left of it (right of the food court) as well as track down the garage, ooh, that reminds me - when/where/how do I get the maintenance key so I can go into those maintenance 'tunnels' (at the fire doors)?
Danny
28-May-2007, 02:43 PM
go across the greentowards the clock adn carry on that way and youll see an opening in the wall this leads to a parking lot with a parked car and a parked bike, get in the car and drive around to the underground entrance which is FULL of zombies so dont get out the car if you wanna live, had right then left then right and get out after clearing the area, go in that door, shutting it behind you 'o course, then head to the bakc fo the warehouse for the maintenance key.:)
MinionZombie
28-May-2007, 06:39 PM
Sweetness.
Head across the green from the Paradise Plaza do you mean? Where is it in comparison to the exit from Paradise Plaza? I didn't stop to look around out there as those prisoners were pissing me off, and of course when you get shot you just stand still and waver around, so you're a sitting target, which is a bit annoying.
Only 1 hour till the chopper comes, ooooooh betty. :D
Danny
28-May-2007, 07:41 PM
when you exit onto the green its more to the right, head right till you reach some benches under a hut (stand on the hut adn leave the game alone, unpaused for 2 and a half hours for the outdoorsman achievement;) ) and youll see the clock tower, head that way.

2.5 hours real life time, or in-game time?
I finished the game, got the B Ending, which was nice, couldn't be arsed to do the missions, but there's a website I found which seems to have videos of all the cutscenes and stuff, so I might just watch them so I don't have to be bothered doing them - what I get out of Dead Rising is some good, clean (well, bloody) zombie killin' action.
I just like running around slicin'.

I tracked down all the cut scenes on a guide website a few days ago and downloaded them all, so now I get to see the story without having to bother playing the missions, haha. I just like running around slicing up zeds...but maybe I will go and help Brad out first, just to make getting to the entrance plaza a little easier...
Up to Case 8 on the videos now, there's a lot of them alright, took a whole afternoon to download them all two-at-a-time (god I hate that on websites where you're limited to two dl's at the same time )...so I'll finish watching the videos today sometime...
capncnut
05-Jun-2007, 03:46 PM
Erm, why the heck would you want you watch the cutscenes before you've finished the game? Doesn't that take away from the whole experience of "seeing what's next"?
Danny
05-Jun-2007, 03:56 PM

Anyway, I just wanted to see the cutscenes without having to bother playing the missions, as I can't really be arsed, like I've said several times before, I just like smashing zombie's heads into the floor. I finished watching the vids, they often drag quite a bit, which is odd, a 3:30 video seems like it goes on forever...and all those shots with people holding things that wiggle independently of their hands kinda monged me out, haha...but anyway, neat little story...but I still reckon I got the best ending when I played it by just slicing up zombies and then getting on the chopper. :D
I'll do what I feckin' want, yeah?:sneaky:

Got a 360 along with Dead Rising, I would describe this game as the 360's Rogue Leader, a game that showcases the potential of the console. The only irks are that some things bring the realism down such as the magic mirror, respawning zombies, jeep psychos and the poor AI of the survivors.

Dead Rising was also a deciding factor for me picking the 360 up. I have to say I was not disappointed, even though Dead Rising could have been beter, it pretty delivered what I was expecting and it has acted as a considerable time sink. Good stuff! Hell, I still need to finish the damn game

Assuming it's accurate and it is a next gen favourite already out rather then anticipated favourite, it could be Dead Rising.
It's not as impossible as it sounds, it would be lower resolution but games like Rogue Leader, Pikmin and the 100 Marios demo on the Gamecube having alot happening on screen coupled with the fact Wii is supposed to be two or three times more powerful then Gamecube may see it work.
It could also be a opportunity to fix things and maybe expand on the original.
Like have more pre game cut scenes the one showing the woman and her daughter was great but some showing actual survivors and psychopaths you find could be included.
More sandbox gameplay events like more survivors to locate, or maybe another cult/special forces deal like say convicts invade the Mall.

Epic Fail, indeed.
I did the 5 day with no sweat, but started running out of food, so I started tearing ass through the mall to find psycho's to kill and get goodies from. I ended up having all kinds of food and weapons, but got tired of hiding out, so i went out and started raising all kinds of hell. ended up getting munched by zombies and dying at 6 days, 22 hours, 55 minutes. i should've just kept my ass in place and waited 5 minutes for the achievement, then ran around and acted like an idiot.
i was so shocked. 13+ hours of gaming, only to fall 5 minutes short of the required time. i did have some fun with infinite mode, though, so i'm gonna try again for the 7 day survivor sometime next week. i just hope my xbox can stand another session. if it wasn't for the damned RROD possibility, i'd probably have already done this one. 14 hours is such a long time to have your system on for, though.
