Don't hold back or anything.
We've all been burned by bad experiences with sequels; maybe this one has got the ways and means to impress us. Give it a chance; it can't hunt you down and beat you if you're open-minded about its potential.
After all, 'Aliens' got two thumbs down from Siskel and Ebert, just prior to its release.
You never know.

Danny Boyle (and Alex Garland) are exec producers.
Angry312 - of course, you can't really compare whoever-the-heck is directing 28WL to James Cameron. Aliens rocked my cock.

I don't understand why everyone has this rigid idea of zombies (or anything resembling) which makes them HATE anything that strays from that rigid idea.
Where's the rigid idea come from?
What's the motivation behind the rigid idea?
And who's idea does the rigid one reflect?
I just look at it like it's a movie. And since the first one was good IMO, I'll definitely see this one and keep an open mind until it's over, because that's how I watch movies.
It seems like so many around here must actually be fans of hating movies, and hating ideas for movies that haven't been made yet. Or hating possible ideas for movies that may one day be made.
What's so fun and great about hating movies?
I get the idea that anyone creating a movie that's supposed to appeal to zombie movie fans has pretty much taken on the project to end their career. No matter what!
Because true zombie fans can only be satisified by taking the original Dawn, and changing the color scheme, maybe add in a sepia tone or discard all the color information altogether.
Then introduce it as a different version of Dawn.
Or have Savini star in a zombie movie where he plays every role.
All zombies are just cloned versions of other zombies that Savini also plays, with maybe one different attribute.
Then Savini also plays the lead survivor, with maybe a cameo by Romero himself as a zombie.
Has it ever occurred to anyone that by directing these movies inside your own minds, then convincing yourselves that you can only be happy with that particular movie that exists within your mind only, you're setting yourself up for dissapointment?
Or is that the entire goal?
What about Land?
Because Land has pretty much every attribute that people here hate about newer zombie flicks.
When I saw Land, I thought of this board. Although I wasn't a member then, I had read alot of posts here.
After I saw Land, I was convinced that everyone here would hate it. Because the things that were different about it, are the things that people here hate.
Making zombies smarter, making them actually do more than shamble about and eat flesh, relying on some effex shots to fill in for a less than cohesive storyline.
And then when that wasn't the case, I was astonished.
Did some of you actually hate Land after you first saw it, and then have to convince yourselves that you loved it because you couldn't fathom the idea of hating a Romero zombie flick? Tell the truth!:sneaky:
Cause I was dissapointed in it, but I'm not a Romero purist.

The thing with 28 Days Later is that the public/critics have pounced on it calling it a zombie film because it looks like one. but Garland and Boyle have both denounced this time and again, it's also quite clear with 28DL, because they are infected with a virus, which is rage, which just makes people go all "ultra-rabies", during their speedy transition from normal person to uber-rabid-nutter they never die, essentially they become rage infected cannibals, because they're still living, breathing (and running) humans.
Now I'm gonna go and settle down in my deckchair on the beach of the "zombies can't f*cking run" camp. :D:lol:

"...US Army declares that the war against infection has been won, and that the reconstruction of the country can begin.."??? I suppose Ving Rhames will be the commanding officer who comes in to "save the British asses"?
Where the hell is the British military?
What a waste of money for a stupid story...they should just take film's budget and donate it to a charity that buys needles for crackheads.
I thought the first movie sucked anyhow...
MinionZombie

Well think about it, they're not zombies, just uber-rabies-sufferin' humans ... that 'eat' other humans ... that's basically cannibalism, an Alex Garland version, but basically cannibalism, when you think about it...

I thought the first movie was great, and I am going to hold out to find out if the next one is as good. BTW I loved all three GAR movies, the Savini remake of night and the Dawn '04 remake ( though I dont see this as a remake more as a different movie).

Biting people and chewing on said flesh (albeit in flashy quick editing digital) is what I'd term "basically" cannibalism, like I said before. :p It's people biting other people, that's like cannibalism-lite.

MMMM... well i hated Land on first viewing, but after a second watch I appericiated more, and more. Have to say that the up till about 8 years ago when I started to look at other zombie views ie.. Blind Dead, Zombie, etc... that I appreciated there is a much wider and varied view of this mythos as opposed to a purley Romero View. I still dont accept 28 days as a zombie movie, this is not due to previous conceptions of an ideal, but rather that zombies by very definition are the living dead, not the living living with a virus.

I was only moderatly pleased with the 28 Days later. I felt that while interesting it was kind of tame. I am not really a fan of British horror films. Although I must say that I loved the score and the soundtrack from 28 days later, it was really excellent.

So, someone tell me why the Americans are saving the day again in Europe?
Isn't there a better angle for this? Make the virus worse....turn them into the living dead!
I can't take this man serious....

If Robert Carlyle is in it then I'm happy. I've not been disappointed with any one single performance he's done, except when he played Hitler which sucked!

a sweet ****ing jesus h christ.
robert carlile is a birtish movie whore, he lurks outside the film four buildings looking for work i hate that guy he's like a lower class hugh grant, no-one likes him much and hes never a lovable character, even when playing a lead.
essentially the ving rhames of brit flicks in general:lol:

It's obvious that they have cast ol' Ving Carlyle 'cos of his convincing psychotics. I know his face is an annoying one but he was red-hot in Trainspotting and Ravenous. You know he's gonna get infected at some point and when he does, it'll kick off good and proper!

Classic contradiction ... or just mindless double speak?
I really hate sequels anyways, i hate each and every one of them with a passion, there are no good sequels, and no good parts in any sequels ... except for Papa Duke in The hills have eyes 2, the naked goth chick in The blair witch 2, and the dildo scene in La Unliving Corpse Du Maggoteye avec une Island Los Stinkrot 4.
