movies baby!

By the way, if you are considering d/l any of the tv shows on ITunes for Ipod...Reno911 is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Its shot 'COPS' style but is actually a comedy.

Preview: The first ten seconds of season one open with a call for officers, shots fired. Cop goes into house, gun drawn. The lights come up, every yells surprise and he shoots one person dead. Sounds morbid...REALLY funny.

Saw an article in the paper today that sales on iPods are way down and that they're dangerously close to becoming "uncool" ... just thought that was an interesting aside that I read yesterday...I don't have an iPod, to be honest I wouldn't want to advertise it to street theives. I've got a thirty quid (at the time) 256mb MP3 player/flash drive thingymajig which is much more discreet...

iPods are a bit too common for my liking now anyway, they're like the Ford or BMW 3 Series of MP3 players.

I've owned a few MP3 players along the way and I agree. They were barely functional compared with the IPOD.

As to them being uncool...truly not true. I use my IPOD in some unique ways, but what's available through ITunes is pretty slick.

First, I have every CD I own and everyone I've been able to borrow. I have almost 7000 songs on my IPOD and my brother has another 5600 he's going to give me the next time I see him. I'm rediscovering music I loved twenty years ago and haven't listened to since. The most interesting (to me) is the incidental 'strange' music that I've accumulated over the years and am now finding i love pretty thoroughly (Squonk Opera, Kitaro, Boiled in Lead, Miedival Baebes (screwed that spelling up), Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson (who is apparently Lou Reed's girlfriend...don't know when that happened) just to name a few. Its more than just 'hey, haven't heard that in a while...'. Just the proximity and clarity of the ipod is making me fall for music all over again. And when I put it on my stereo at home, it just isn't as good.

Second, I watch tv shows on my Ipod. I know the screen is small, but the clarity is good. I've rewatched last season's Shield, Prison Break and now just finished season 1 of Reno911. Its excellent. I also keep some Disney on it for my 5 year old. With an av cable, I can hook it up to any TV and boom, we have good tv.

Third, I have every digital picture I've ever taken on my IPOD. That's over 8000 pictures. Of course, now that they're all there, I hardly ever look at them. But I can hook the ipod to the TV and run slides shows to music playlists. My grandmother spent a whole rainy weekend looking at those pictures.

Fourth, Podcast are cool as heck. If you have an itch, there's probably a podcast about it. The ones I've subscribed to are Pseudopod (horror fiction), Seen/Unseen (movie reviews done humorously), Barnes and Nobles' Meet the Writers, Ricky Gervais and (for practical sake) Learn Excel from Mr Excel (which is really good, even to someone like me who makes Excel do things its wasn't designed to do) and for my wife (Smartboard Lessons)

Last, not least, I keep a number of audiobooks on my IPOD for long car trips. I don't have to worry about running out of juice, music or entertainment ever.

Of course, one worrisome thing is that I haven't spoken a single word to a human being in months, but I expect I will one of these days soon. <smile>

Oh...and worth mentioning. Of my 60 gigs, I still have over 20 gigs left.

Word. i upgraded to the 60 gig video over the summer, and i have to say it is bar none the best portable hard drive on the planet. I've used to as a third wave backup for all of my pictures and some important viedos as well.

the fact is plays video and music to me is practicly gravy.

"important videos"

Now that's just dirty porn videos isn't it? The kind you show your friends at parties ... before watching them in the closet on your own after sh*t dies down and you've sadly struck out with the local talent. Oh what an image...:p
