That's awesome... Hopefully I'll be able to go there at some point and get a tour from Tom or Ken sometime...
But that's for another day.

I met Tom in 2003 at Full Sail in Orlando Fl. He was speaking about his effects knowledge and his school up in PA . I got him to sign my "Dawn of the Dead" hat , it was really fun to meet him and I am sure that he is a great teacher . I would like to visit that mall sometime . The photos you shot seem to be accurate as far as areas that were used for key incidents from the original "Dawn " ...Have fun ...:skull:

I think he was on the mall tour in 2003 with Ken Foree and other members of the cast. They took us back there, it was awesome.
As for your pics and schooling, it is awesome. Tom Savini is a cool guy, I have talked to him at a few comicons. He has always been friendly and willing to talk when I met him. It would be cool to learn from the man himself.
Well some stuff is still the same from the 1970's, the mall was a hang out for me in the 70's/80's. That bridge was there back then, and I am suprised to still see the photo booth there after all this time, the floor tile and the marbel like colums are the same as then. The big potted plant type of display was there in the 70's, I am sure its a new plant but the same vase and type of plant. Its neat to see a lot is still the same dispite the many changes. It sucks that there is a food court where the skate rink used to be. I had fun as a kid skating there.

With a couple of those shots, there was either an earthquake occuring at the time, you were running on the spot, or you have the world's worst camera :)
ps: Nice shots :)

Just checked out the photos, awesome! Monroeville has been number one on my list of 'places to visit before I kick the bucket' so I can totally feel your excitement just looking at them. Living in London, I have practically no chance of visiting this hallowed ground whatsoever unless I quit my job, use up my savings and then return home unemployed and penniless because I've spent it all on visiting a shopping mall in Pittsburgh. Man, I'm so jealous!
PS: Did you slide down that escalator?

I agree. If I owned the place I'd be screaming that movie from the rooftops (or helipad). I'd have 2 map layouts (old and new) for all the zombie-heads that want to visit plus 'the official Dawn escalator ride'. Imagine how much money they could scrape by charging kids a couple of bucks to zoom down that escalator! In fact, I'd re-name the place 'Dawns Mall'. Hehe.

yeah i think they just wanna keep it plain. but i would have more myself. maybe they think it as being bad publicity somehow.

I can't see how it would be bad publicity for them. I'm sure there's been signings and stuff going on in there before. Maybe they just don't like the fact that the Romero-ites don't spend dollar in there when they visit.

no, actually it was jurassic park operation genesis. it's like a sims game. apparently its real hard to get cuz it took me like 2 years to find it! not that i was franticly searching or anything! i wanna play dead rising! no 360! that justice league game comes out tues, i'm REALLY looking forward to that!

I played the demo of that game. Not only is it hard to find but it's hard to complete. Within minutes of setting up my park I had T-Rex's breaking out of their cages all over the place! Dead Rising is amazing, the scale of the zombie attacks are incredible but I don't personally think it's a classic to be honest. It has to be owned regardless so enjoy it when you do get a 360.
Talking of hard to get games, I've been after one called Shadow Of Memories for about 2 years myself so I know how it feels, man.
