Yeah, "scary" is a very subjective term. The original Nightmare on Elm Street, for example, by far had the lowest budget, and you could tell how cheap some of the special effects were, but I thought it was the scariest of the series. GAR's zombie movies in and of themselves and not jump-out-of-your-chair-scary, but more scary if you thought about how life would be if suddenly the dead could rise in our real universe.

Good to see some vintage 70's horror movies on the list.

They had a similar programme on Channel 4 in the UK. Wanna know what the most scariest movie was? The Shining. I'll admit, it's not my favourite horror movie by a long shot but I wouldn't argue with the result.

Of course they HAD to have a hollywood classic as number 1, otherwise everyone would be disappointed. We sure saw that coming. It was nice to see some films get recognition, but I can't help to think it's one big advertisement for all those films considering there's a link right next to the movie title that says "BUY".

Some of those movies are not even scary. And I am wondering why they made the list and beat more gruesome movies.

The show was called the top 100 scary moments, not movies. If a flick had a scary moment in it, it was on the list.
Jaws is a REAL monster, ppl have gotten eaten and they still do. That to me is the scariest thing you can have happen to you. Getting eaten alive in the dark ocean by a real living creature.

Yea, I saw that. It also had a scene from NOTLD when the little girl killed her mom with the garden shovel.

I meant 100 scary movie moments, not 100 scary movies.:p

I misread. My bad.
*combined post*
I'm currently watching it right now. These movies and scenes really scare people? I find them laughable.

Jurassic Park is at 95? That should be way up there. The scene with the t-rex and the kids in the car is farking intense. Scared the shiv outta me when I was a kid.
And why the HELL is The Wizard Of Oz on this list?

More people probably get killed by flying scissors each year than by shark attacks. Are you more afraid of flying scissors?
