'Tis true. Okay, everyone else here may have known this, but I did not. Now that I know it, I see reference to it in other places, so sorry, if I'm posting common knowledge...

In a recent interview, GAR said he got his start making those short, educational films that Fred Rogers showed in his "Picture, Picture" machine.

George Romero: "We made little movies like How Do They Make Light Bulbs? or something about wheels. That was my first job. It was anything that came into Fred's head, including 'Fred Rogers Gets a Tonsillectomy.'"

He laughs. "Now that's one of the more frightening films I've made."

Haha, that's interesting.

GAR made quite a different decision when it came to his mainstream film-making in the end I'd say.

What the fvck???

Here are some random quotes from that article:

"And there's another thing: "Here, I have a girlfriend." (Uh, better not let Christine find out!)

"The sheer primitive pleasure of watching stilted and stumbling versions of ourselves noshing on the tasty tissue of human brain is one thing." (Hello, no brain eating in George's films!)

"most notably Day of the Dead's critique of consumerism, zombies wandering aimlessly through a DayGlo shopping mall. ("They come here because they remember it was important to them," deadpans one of the survivors.)" (Wrong movie azzhat!)

What a horrible author, no research on the man!

That would be the Calgon Story. If I'm not mistaken, it had Judith Ridley in it too.

I don't know about that, but I know Judith Rudley was in 'There's Always Vanilla'

Judith Ridley was in The Calgon Story, as well as Karl Hardman and Russ Streiner.

Romero left his wife over 2 years ago. The Greek showed me a photo of George's new squeeze last year. She is some tall skinny red headed chick.

OVER two years ago? When Chris Romero was still updating his site for him while LAND was being put together?

George and Christine Romero forever!

Also, there was one episode of Mr. Rodgers where he turned the camera toward the fourth wall and showed the crew and the studio, and as the camera panned over you can clearly see a young GAR, in his pre-Chris days.

Mt sister knew Mr Rogers personally. She was his neighbor in real life as a kid. We grew up in seperate households me and her. I saw him in person once when I saw David Copperfield perform in downtown pittsburgh. Mr Rogers was in the isle down from me.

The Crazies remake has been in development for at least 3 years and it still hasn't gotten off the ground.

Did you know that Paul Reuben's was originally written into the script of Ghostbusters?

heh.

Anyhow, I think I actually read somewhere about Romero working on Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.... IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW, George named a character after Fred Rogers! (DOTD :O) :D
