allright so im working on a 28 days style zombie flick called reaction, the scripts done, i got the cast but im having trouble with one seen since its in a storm, because im in egland so i have no trouble waiting for rain, but what kind of light scource do you guys think i could use for lighting, like a dark alley being suddenyl BAM! lit up for just a second then black again, i was thinking a coloured bulb you get from hardware stores for like 2 quid like very pale blue but i still dont think it'll look right, any one got any ideas that can help me out with this.

theres some cheap effects here but there that kind of explosion thats 8 bit that you see in most low budget action films, still would be good if you ever wanted to do a spoof.

this is an excellent way to make a low budget dolly, and you could probably combine this with the "how to make a crane doly" bit on the undead dvd.

i just got my new tripod today for my camcorder but its kinda jittery when turning around anyone got any tips.

oh and i built the dolly from that thread and it works great.:D i didnt think dj could have used something like it for deadlands but it really does give your films a more professional edge.

If you can get one there, an arc welder can give you a perfect flash for simulating lightning. Probably not suggested if you are shooting in an actuall storm unless you can really, really protect it.

Or, if you can find one in a used camera shop or something, old-style flashbulbs can be good also. Does depend on the particular bulb, though, some of the really old 1940's newsman-style flash bulbs flash a little slow and might give you a frame or 2 more flash than you would want. You might try to use an electronic flash, but the flash is so fast that more often than not you won't see it in the shot because the flash starts and ends in between frames. But if you hit it a few times, odds are you'll get something.

Most regular lightbulbs, especially bright ones, take too long to ramp up and down when you hit and kill the power, probably wouldn't look so great, but you might be able to combine it with some post work. Dunno, I haven't seen them work all that well fro this type of thing myself.

this is a link to a free program called goldwave that can do some major cut and paste sound editing with loads of effects thats really,really easy, say you acotr was a bit quiet then you can turn up the volume of the sound and then add it to the movie, or alter voices or even, for some reason make it play backwards, basically if you making a short film you can choose little bits and pieces from damn near any sound file to add into your movies,and its free, enjoy.
