Did anyone else hear about Sacha "Borat" Cohen getting punched repeatedly by some dude in NYC Saturday night? He was trying to be funny with the guy and he didn't appreciate it, so he started kicking his ass.
I don't who this guy is, but he is my new hero now.

Yeah I heard about this a couple of days ago...

Apparently it went something like this....In his Borat persona he asked some dude something to the extent of "Can I buy your clothes so that I can have sex with them"....and apparently the guy immediately started wailing on Borat without any opportunity for further explanation....

But then again I am reporting this like 5th hand on the grape vine....so I dont know how much of the story if any of it is true or what details that I have heard have been embellished if any of them...

Its not that Im too lazy to look for links reguarding it....its just that I dont care enough to know wether its true or not...lol...its not like Im going to talk about it in day to day conversation.... But if someone does bother to look it up...I might casually skim the article to see how much of the story is valid...if any of it is....:)

Apparently Hugh Laurie (House) saved his ass!

Borat is the funniest movie I have ever seen, but it needs to stay there, in the cinema. If some guy did that to me, I would probably be freeked out too. Don't think I would punch, I am not violent at all, but I would defiitely be freaked!

Oh come on! Hmmm...

Seems a sad reflection when someone gets punched in the face for saying something odd...

Why?

Would you wish death upon Borat? Are you jealous that he is richer or funnier than you.

I can't understand comments like that. Are you serious or joking? Surely you do not want him dead for real, huh????

Bad mood combined with bad timing can result in a black eye. The "artist" should certainly know the risk of messing with strangers. I'm sure he is ok.

im not surprised this sort of thing happend. the reactions and threats he got in his movie and his TV show as Borat, Ali G and Bruno i doubt he has never been hit whilst filming.

he is a legend and Borat is a brillaint characture and the film is excellent!

It does not suprise me. Not everyone knows who he is. I di dnot know he existed till the movie came out. But still that was rather extreme, to beat up someone like that for something I do not see worth going to jail for.

He is annoying

I consider Cohen to be nothing more than a poor man's Andy Kaufman.

That's a damn good comparison right there!!

Although I have always considered Kaufmann a "poor man's" comic as well.

Borat / Foreign Man, very similar. I had not thought of it that way.

Both are/were incredibally talented comedians.

It's blatantly obvious I'm joking as I put a smiley face at the end of my post. Eyes?

As for jealousy, I don't do jealousy. I just find unfunny little cretins a pain in the ass especially when the media tries to shove his 'Jagshemash' bulls**t down my throat. That's all.

There's so much truth to that comment that it almost hurts. And Ali G is a poor man's Dennis Pennis!

I don't think the Kaufman Cohen comparison fits at all. Andy Kaufman was often totally abstract. Cohen is just rude. Sure they both use disguise, but in a totally different context.
For the record, I thin they are both hiariouss. Though the Ali G movie was super uper duper lame and unfunny. In a freddy got fingered way, which ain't good

He had to expect to get punched occasionally, though I don't know why some of you take so much pleasure in it.

Borat spanked by Yank

November 13, 2006 12:00

BORAT star Sacha Baron Cohen was beaten up by a passer-by after he tried to play a prank as his alter ego.

He approached the man and said: “I like your clothings. Are nice! Please may I buying? I want have sex with it.”

But the bystander didn’t see the joke. He took one look at Cohen and punched him in the face.

The funnyman — known for his Borat catchphrase “Jagshemash!” — yelled for help but was slugged again and again.

He was rescued by actor pal Hugh Laurie who had been on his way to a New York bar with Cohen.

Laurie rushed to help and pushed the man away as Cohen struggled to his feet. A pal of Cohen said: “Sacha couldn’t resist playing the fool as Borat, but picked on the wrong person.

“I guess this guy thought he was being attacked by someone unstable and lashed out. Sacha is very lucky he didn’t get a much worse beating.”

The incident took place after Laurie and Cohen appeared on the US TV show Saturday Night Live. The Brit comics were on their way to a late dinner when Laurie suggested they visit a bar in Manhattan.

Laurie, 47, told friends he feared Cohen was going to get badly beaten up. Luckily, 35-year-old Cohen did not receive any lasting scars.

Studio chiefs have warned Cohen to avoid pretending to be the spoof Kazakhstan TV reporter on the streets. Since the film was launched he has only appeared in character while promoting the movie on American television shows.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America For Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan is tipped to become the highest grossing comedy of all time.

Speaking of Kaufman, how many of you think he faked his death?

Yea, he's a regular at the poker night with Elvis, Amelia Erhart, and Judge Crater.....:D

... And Jimmy Hoffa.

Anyway, I like Cohen. He's funnier than any other comedian out there. Granted, I've known about him since way before the Borat character became a regular on the Ali G show so I guess I'm not that affected by all the hype (which, by the way, is huge and I could see why people find it annoying).

But how can you not laugh at him? He's just damned funny and good at what he does. I guess some people just prefer the talentless under-the-belt jokes of Kevin Smith.
