The Hills Have Eyes (quick review, no spoilers)

If you're looking for a good scare, pass this one up. The trailers and commercials all make this look like it's gonna be, but it is definately not.

Hills relies more on a disturbing level of violence than plot to try and scare the viewer. And, brother, I mean disturbing. There were actually a few scenes that I felt were both unneccessary and down-right over-the-top. :rockbrow: Particularly the rape scene. Nasty.

This one might be a renter, but only if you're bored and everything else is already rented. The CGI is obvious throughout, and the whole thing had a real slapped together feel. Character development in non-existant, and actually the people behave rather unbelievable given the circumstanes they are put in.

I've never been a Wes Craven fan, I find his films to be lackluster at best (and never scary). But, his ideas are always good (he just pulls them off badly, IMHO). So, I was hoping that this remake would be better, but it wasn't.

A few choice scenes does not a movie make.

Hmmm...I'm still interested in seeing this flick, but as a remake that boasts about it's level of violence I somehow knew it would be lacking in the script department, all these horror remakes are - hashed out as quickly as possible by hack writers looking to cash a cheque quick to pay off their porn dungeon debts.

I still want to see what all the fuss is about (violence wise)...wasn't a big fan of the original movie, but perhaps a second viewing will boost my opinion of it...hmmm.

Personally, I found the level of violence to be distracting. It was hard to focus on what was happening in the ultra-thin plot while awaiting the next stomach churning kill that you knew was coming.

I'd equate this movie with the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remake. It's focus was more on the violence and the freakishness of the protagonists, so much so that every scene felt exagerrated.

I thought it had some shocking scenes but not as shocking as Hostel was. Now that shocked me. Your right I was not scared and I thought the movie went slow. I got bored.

Interesting...because Hostel bored the pants off me, and not in a sexy way. Fifty minutes of 'plot' (horny teens shagging fit girls way out of their league) with a minor snippet of 'the good stuff' before the point of the movie in the last 30 minutes - WTF?!

Also, they totally didn't make the "torture holiday for rich bastards" angle clear enough.

myself i didnt mind the hills remake. i'am not saying that it is good but its okay. niether of the two films are really that good as it is ,with the original being a little better then the remake (in my opinion). the remake relies to much on the over the top violence and CGI and forgets about the main point of a movie "to entertain and thrill the audience" instead they just try to shock the audience for an hour and a half.
and the acting is a little weak in a few roles.

i forgot all the stupid sex scenes:confused: Ya now to think of it the story could have been developed better but seeing a gals eye hanging out of her socket and puss oozing out and having him cut out the eye was too much for me to watch. and her walking at a train station looking like that and no one notices? very odd

So, you forgot the majority of the movie? LOL I am now re-naming you "Flip-Flop". That is what you will be known as from this moment on. LOL -- Or, Ole Flippy...Perhaps, Madame Flopsalot...I like that better.
I have a legitimate question; Do you actually watch these movies? Your "opinion" changes constantly. From, "Oh I LOVED it!" to "Oh I HATED it!" A suggestion - do a search for all your posts before you respond to any. That way, the continuity of your "online persona" wont be so confusing.

yeh I thought that eye thing was pretty stupid too - EVERYBODY would notice that, ha! Also, it seemed like it was just deliberately put in for an "ewww" moment - rather than violence for the story

Went and saw this tonight. Funny, but people in the theater were actually getting up and cheering when the mutants got the pick axe to the head.

Lot of pent up agression and blood lust among middle American teenagers.
