Why, thank you. Unfortunately we don't celebrate Thanksgiving Day here but it's nice of you to think of us anyway. Likewise, to all of you US HPotD-ers have a happy Thanksgiving and don't pig-out on the turkey too much. :)

You know whats wierd.... According to what I saw on the history channel the other day...
Nearlly all the information on wiki reguarding Thanksgiving is false.... :(...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving
Check out all that false information!
Even the most basic things about the myth are flawed apparently the colonists werent considered The [P]ilgrims...but in one journal entry a guy referred to some of the colonists as [p]ilgrims...(notice the lower case)...but over time scholars screwed it up...
Essentially the whole "story" of thanksgiving is a total myth and fabrication ...
The reason that we have so many myths associated with Thanksgiving is that it is an invented tradition.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody :D!
That tends to happen to all these holidays over the centuries as they get bastardized and adjusted for different tastes. Easter and Christmas are no different. But whatever mutation they take as long as they provide the excuse to take off work/school, stuff food and booze in our mouths, and hook up with family that's what counts.

Er, no we don't I'm afraid. The Harvest Festival that Wiki mentions is not celebrated by the whole isle but only by a die hard christian percentage. It is not a truly national event and we don't have posters in supermarkets saying 'buy your turkeys for Harvest Festival'. It is more of an event where local children bring in boxes of food to school which are distributed to the old and needy. It is a day of giving and making donations so unfortunately a vast majority don't actually celebrate it. But thanks anyway and again, have a great Thanksgiving and Happy Harvest to the miniscule percentage in the UK that actually celebrate it!
