This sample (below) is from another novel I'm also trying to sell based on the historical tale of Sawney Beane. If you like it, let me know what you think...could use your input.
Background: A true story, in 15C Scotland, times were more troubling than most. People were disappearing in the wood, vanished without much of a trace. They disappeared by the hundreds. This is the story of the disappearances, their investigations and their rueful conclusion. This is the 8th Chapter in the story, where the King assigns his Laird as Magistrate and charges him with resolving the disappearances. If anyone's interested, here's the sample:
