This 'ere folks, is the online version of I Am Zombie Man 2 (aka "Zombie Man's Christmas Message"), the final DVD version will be tweaked about here and there for general extra tidying.

It weighs in at 24 minutes, and therefore I had to split it into two parts.

Like I said several weeks ago, it isn't IAZM1, but it's still most definitely Zombie Man - but on a much grander scale than the first.

Check it out:

Part One (http://media.putfile.com/IAZM2part1)

Part Two (http://media.putfile.com/IAZM2part2)

The DVD, packed with extras for a very reasonable price, is coming soon!

Finally - for the DVD version of IAZM2, I'll be doing a kind of 'MySpace Friends' type list of "Zombie Man Fans" at the end - so if you're a Zombie Man Fan, drop me a PM and hoist a limb high and tell me which name you want me to use in the credits shout out list (HPOTD username or your real-world name, spelling out accordingly for the latter of course).

nice one, the camera work was a little "student educational video-ey" but since your using a new type of camera i can totally understand, the writing was real good man and got more than a couple of laughs out of me, loved the bit near the start were he stnads theres for a bit, wont say more than that or id spoil it, but cool film man.

Good stuff, man. I particularly liked the Intro "Last time...", the Cribs joke, and the first bit with Benzee.

Just make sure you take DJ and Lou's "members" out of your mouth, now.

Hey, I'm thoroughly enjoying my member right where it is! (sorry MZ, couldn't resist that one)

...and goddammit MZ, I can't watch this sh*t at work, and you post the links 1 hour before I walk out the door?!? No coovan for you! :p

I will post my review as soon as I get home from work and am able to check it out. I've been lucky enough to see a few of the rough-rough-cut scenes prior to it being smoothed out and put into the form it's in now, and I'm sure this one will be a "snow-laden success" like the first. :D

One thing I can say from what i've seen - the cinematography is leaps and bounds from the original IAZM. Not that the original wasn't good, it's just, IAZM2 has a look to it that i really like. Good work, MZ.

c'mon 4pm! I need to get the hell out of here and get home.. :D

i dunno, the 1st had an 'evil dead' vibe that was really cool, so i still kinda like that one a little better caemrawork wise.

:rockbrow:

Any minor bumps in the camerawork you might occasionally see comes down to:

1) being f*cking cold
2) the tripod seizing up a tad due to said ball-cooling weather

I'm proper chuffed with the look of IAZM2.

My review contains spoilers... so read on.

Ok... My review will be a bit biased due to my involvement with the project. However, I agree with lou about the cinematography being outstanding. Great Job.

When Ben Zee first appeared and started talking I spit pepsi all over my desk and clothes. You owe me a new sweat shirt MZ. He was quite comical.

I liked I am Zombie man 2, but I still prefer part1. No offense MZ. I thought Part 2 was funny and well shot and the addition of Ben-Zee and the German zombie human thingy was awesome.

I would give it an 7 out of 10. I am zombie Man 1 gets a 10 out of 10. He is still my favorite zombie though. :D

lol ... IAZM2 - my difficult second album - but successful nonetheless by the looks of things. IAZM1 made such a splash, so I'm not surprised some might hold it dear.

I guess IAZM2 is to IAZM1 what Clerks 2 is to Clerks (well, I hope anyway! :)) ... you know, minus the Star Wars talk and Rosario Dawson's cracking boobs. :D

DjfunkmasterG
26-Jan-2007, 08:40 PM
MZ, i would say that is a safe analogy of IAZM1 and IAZM2. However, if you had Rosario make BEWB appearance I would have been like IAZM1 who, what, when? never heard of it.

I just watched it again, and I have to say it. BENZEE stole the show. His character was outstanding and really made IAZM2 very awesome.

Ok, I'm almost done laughing and wiping the tears from my face!

I say, home freakin' run! :D I loved it.

Like Dj, I was involved in a way (music), so maybe i'm bias, but man, that was great.

First, I think the cinematography of IAZM2 is fantastic. The look and feel of the film. It's semi-dark, cold feeling, and the gray-ish look to the whole thing retains the creepiness. I likey.

What follows contains quotes and some things that might be considered spoilers, so i'm hiding them just in case. Read at your own risk.

The Cribs rip? hilarious! "...you'll find I've got f*ck-all idea what's going on" Typical celebrity!! ...and when he walks out and rubs his nose. OMG, that was just....

BenZee was hilarious too. I love the juxtaposition between ZM and BZ. BZ is more a "traditional" zombie (in a way, more on that later) and ZM is just an off-the-rails funny bastard that's 180 degrees from BZ. I haven't been able to tell who was funnier between the two!

Now, speaking of BenZee. I have a bone to pick with you Mr. Minion. Ok, so zombies can't f*cking run, but now they can talk? WTF, is this ROTLD? (you know I couldn't resist ribbin' ya for that one didn't you?)

I like how this one approaches ZM in a different way. IAZM starts off more creepy, then launches into a off-the-cuff piece of comedic genius. This one has a almost more 'commerical' feel to it, and it's perfect 'cause it represents where ZM is at the moment - selling out like a motherf*cker! for fortune and fame!

Poor bastard never got his air-powered television either. :D

I have to go watch it again.

The sooner we're done here the sooner I get to go to sleep!

Glad folks are enjoying it. Putting a film out, something you've worked hard to make, releasing it to the virgin eyes of the general public is a terrifying and anxiety ridden thing, so it's nice to not have "you f*cked up the whole Zombie Man thing!" ... yet anyway!:confused:

Lou - but Zombie Man talks!

I'll use the excuse that Bub managed it, yet couldn't run - in fact Bub was Ben's tutor when it came to zombie dialogue. :)

And now I'll quote the legend that is Alan Partridge - "zombies, by their very nature are inconsistent".

DjfunkmasterG

Zombie man needs a My Space page. You aren't a somebody in the indie business without a My Space page.

LouCipherr
27-Jan-2007, 12:00 AM
Ok, I let the ZM talking thing go by in IAZM 'cause I figured he was just thinking to himself, not really talking out loud, however.. now that you mention it... WTF?!

Not to mention, if zombies are "inconsistent" wouldn't that mean that would have to include shuffling, wafting, and running?? Hey, all three are perfectly logical inconsistencies!

Just messin' with ya. :D

I agree with Dj - a ZM myspace page would not only kick major air-breather ass, but it would also help to raise his profile even more so he can sell out like the hollywood bitch that he has become!

I've watched it a few times now and it's still funny. That's a good sign. :D

Great stuff MZ, f**kin' loved it man. In my eyes, it's easily as good as the first. BenZee is a right little scene stealer, the way he speaks sorta reminds me of the old fart that used live next door to me, the dribble too. Loved the camera work, the music and especially the gags - this one's gonna take some topping MZ. Again man, f**kin' awesome and well worth the wait.

I agree with ya, man. Good Stuff. But I thought Benzee's talking was more like a reference to Bub's "Hello Aunt Alicia". That's the way I saw it, anyway.

Thats how I sort of saw it too until he talked more. I have no problem with it I thought BEN ZEE stole the movie and it was a great sight to see.

his line "I guess he was just feeling lonely" was F**King hilarious. I still laugh at that scene.

MinionZombie
27-Jan-2007, 11:14 AM
lol, Bub was indeed the spring board for teaching Ben how to talk like a zombie might talk, and then we riffed on it from there. We also reviewed the scene from Shaun of the Dead where Liz gives them tips on how to act like a zombie, and likewise we used that as a springboard - you'll see this stuff in the Making Of which will be on the DVD. :)

"Don't be so lame, I was just hungry" :D

During the editing process there were so many bits I noticed in the shots from Ben and Knox that I just loved. Little shakes of the head, cranes of the neck ... Ben had a lot of neat little things he did that I just loved - the drool, the glances off-camera to me as if he's confused about ZM's crotch bulge and so on.

LouCipherr

"Don't be so lame, I was just hungry" :D

"Then how come you didn't eat my brains?!"

Yeah, that was the one thing that I thought was so f*ckin' funny was the fact that the whole time BenZee is trying to talk he's drooling!

BenZee was freakin' awesome, and as much as I thought he was hilarious, nothing can top Zombie Man's way with words.

"You can wave your arms around and walk as silently as you want all day mate, but sooner or later I'm gonna eat your fu*king guts out with a spoon!"

CLASSIC!!

I was doing some editing for the DVD last night and then got thinking about possible ideas and what some footage might look like - for IAZM3 - in my head, and I got all excited about it...this is a problem I have, I haven't finished one project and I'm already thinking about the next two!

Just for you MZ, and ZM

The Posse's rolling through the UK

I'm rolling in my Mini sporting $100 bills
Cruising with my groupies on my way to Notting Hill
I spot me a chav and a slam on the brakes
I kick him in the balls and stab him with a wooden stake
We keep'on a rolling on the way to the pad
When a ho gets out of line and it gets me really mad
Not sure what to do, what to think, what to say
So listen up Mutherf**kers ZM's rolling through the UK.

tick tick tick tick tick

My posse's rolling through the Uk
My Posse's rolling through the Uk

We roll through the streets the stereo's a bumping
The hydraulics on my mini up and down they a pumpin'
We get to the pad and the parties really boomin
Groupie #2 walks in with a fat sack of coovan
I pull back the hoodie and I grab me a straw
snorting 15 grams at once, nothing no ones ever saw
They look up to me as the master with the plan
I say, Shut the **** up cause I am the one and only Zombie Man

tick tick tick tick tick tick

My Posse's rolling through the UK

Nice one Deej. I can just see ZM sat there in his Ford Fiesta with his rims rollin' and the hydrolics pumpin' with the decidedly 1980s tape deck poopin' out the choons. :D

I rewatched the video, I do sniff a lot in it don't I? :p

DjfunkmasterG

I was actually considering a scene in IAZM2 with ZM driving around in his "ride" thinking it's all sh*t-hot, but it didn't happen. It was gonna be a kind of cribs for his car, but then I did cribs for his shed. :D

LouCipherr
01-Feb-2007, 02:11 PM
I think the cribs idea was better. More people identify with that show (sad, but it's true..) then riding around in a pimped-out convertable with hydrolic lifts on it. :D

The IAZM2 DVD is coming along, I'm working on the Zombie Man audio commentary (which will plug the gap between IAZM2 and the inevitable IAZM3), and then beyond that it's just doing the final edit of the film itself with some tweaks and new music (Lou's working on a background ambient piece for the Q&A chunk, and I just need the official opening track (for those none-the-wiser the one used is a temporary track) for the film and then I'll get it felt up right nice and run it through Vegas for the theatre-specific fiddles and then send the disc(s) out to you.

Ok, lets get one thing straight right here and now (and STFU Dj, no comments from you, because I know what you're gonna say...):

If Zombie Man ran for president, or even came to the USA, the very first brain he should remove from it's brainstem is that of HILLARY CLINTON. Bill next, then Bush's entire family. From there, he could eat his way right to the top of the political game.

But wait... that's not ZM's style. He'd probably come over here looking for the first shipping lane that is importing his favorite illegal coovan mix from mexico into the USA! :D Now that I think about it, that's not that much different than most of the people in hollywood already, so he's bound to become a star if he came over here! :D

I think if ZM ventured across the pond he'd hit up the key coovan capitals of the continent until he was a jiggly sack full of snow just wobbling around like a water balloon.

Then he'd form his own political party - the "common sense brigade", they'd get sh*t done, but legalise stuff like stem cell research and abortions so people who aren't reactionary ultra-religious freaks of nature who think "creationism" is a science rather than a belief, can get the benefits of new technology and basic common sense rights to do things that are sometimes quite necessary.

So he'd basically be a compassionate ball stomper, noiiice!

Like he said in IAZM2, there'll be no "afford to be Liberal" politics (and likewise no doom-saying "videogames and teenagers are evil" wank) spewing forth from his wintry maw.

Been bashing out more ideas for the commentary...Capn, do you mind if I pinch that 'snorting ash' idea for IAZM3? :)

Did a trial/test DVD for IAZM2 just to check some things and see how different compressions look when actually played back on my TV, so it's starting to come together. When I get the final couple of music tracks for the final DVD edit, then it'll come together nice and quick. In the mean time I think I'll fiddle around with the rest of the DVD to kinda have it semi-prepared and start setting up how I'll do the whole buying process behind the DVD itself. A fair price most definitely, especially considering the amount of stuff I'll be slapping on there and the amount of effort that's gone into it all. :)

Indeed, once I have the last couple of tracks then I can bash out the final edit of the film, the online version isn't quite complete you see.

I was talking to Lou about the tracks about a week ago I think, he's knocking up a background track that's about 8 minutes long (for the Q&A section, it'll add an extra layer and make it more complete methinks) but the main one needed is the opening track, as the one used in the online version was just a temporary one.

Once those are in, I'm gonna add a subtle layer of white diffusion to it with Magic Bullet - then I can feel-up an NTSC AVI straight away and send it on over, then I'll get the actual DVD cracked off.

MZ, I haven't forgot about you or the track, I'm just recovering from not having power (or heat) for almost a week last week due to ice storms. Thank GOD for generators and space heaters!!!

That's basically what I did. I had 2 space heaters and a generator (5500 watt, which we used to run lights & stuff on the street during the filming of Deadlands) that I used to power the two space heaters, two refrigerators, and my television - of course, the cable was out, but at least I could watch dvds! :D

I kept one heater in the back room where all the water pipes in the house are located to keep them from freezing, and the other I put in my room just to keep us warm while sleeping. Our bedroom stayed warm, but the next morning, the entire house was around 40 degrees F (I'm guessing, but that should be around, what, 3-4 degrees C? Something like that). Oh, that's a bitch to wake up.

It's all good now, but damn Edison for making me reliant on electricity!! It's a curse AND a blessing! :)

If we lived closer I would give you my heaters. I have some I never use. God I can not wait till spring. It was freaking 4 degress about a week ago, not factoring in wind chill.:dead:

Christ, your power's out but you still hook yourself up with a working TV? ... Now that's classy-nice. :)

Speaking of Zombie Man type stuff though, hehe, I'm lovin' that Magic Bullet software, everytime I watch Top Gear I just see all the Magic Bullet that they've added to their features ... god I'm such a nerd.

Anyway, IAZM2 is gonna look nice a suave with a subtle layer of white diffusion over it (already put a pre-set of my own together a couple of weeks back and did a test on an MPEG render of the first 6 minutes and it even looked nice on that!)

Ahhh, finally started hammering away at the keyboard to write the script for the Audio Commentary (by Zombie Man), which will impart a lot of 'in-the-know' tips about being a zombie as well as updating you on his current situation. My second wind, as-it-were, is kicking in to finish off this DVD release. :)

Of course, what else am I gonna do with no power other than freeze? Tat's right, watch movies! :D Hell, even the cable was out, but I was still able to power the TV and DVD player along with the heaters & refrigerators. ;)

The neighbors must've though it was weird that there was no power, but the glow from my 50" LCD was shining through the windows....

Well, the final push begins on IAZM2 to get the final version done and dusted, a copy sent out to Dj for the theatrical showing, and complete the DVD itself.

It's been nice to have a bit of a break from it for the past couple of weeks, it lets me get fresh on it again, the finishing line is indeed in sight now. :)

You can partially blame me for the delay with IAZM2. :o Well, that and MZ's laziness... :p (j/k)

I took entirely too long to get an 8 minute ambient track to MZ for inclusion on IAZM2 - life just got in the way for a few weeks (as well as snow storms, loss of electricity, insane construction going on at my house, etc).

Sorry took so long, MZ - ya know how it goes. :D

The good news is, I think the track has been finalized. I sent the latest version to MZ last night and got the 'thumbs up' for the mix :D so now it's just a matter of sendign him the high-quality version of the track via email for "final placement" in the film.

w00t indeed. :D

And on that note, we now return you to your regularly scheduled program...

Lovin' it. :D

No problems Lou, you guys have been helping me out for free, I really appreciate it and it just makes IAZM2 sound so much better. I've pinpointed all the bits where I want to tweak and I have my checklist of things to do, so be patient with me, it's all coming along, these things always end up taking longer than you anticipate, especially when flitting between different projects like I'm doing at the moment.

And as a final note, the continued support from everyone here at HPOTD is a real boost and is very appreciated. :)

Now, it just has to be displayed on the screen at the end of the movie and someone has to read it as fast as humanly possible - just like they do when they list side-effects of prescription drugs on tv commericals. They always hire some dude who can talk a million miles per hour (or kilometers per hour for you UK folks. :))

I foresee that I will deffo get the theatrical copy sent out to Dj in the next couple of weeks (which reminds me, Dj, if you read this, drop me an email or a PM explaining what exactly it is I have to do in Vegas to get the theatrical copy/render as you need it).

Erm, anyway, a few short weeks and the DVD will be available, I've been busy lately so things get pushed back a little, but then again everything takes longer than you initially anticipate. But there isn't a great deal left to do, so it's coming rather soon...next month probably. :)

Patience is a virtue, it's all worth it in the end (just look at me and the videogame STALKER - no nobby little quips necessary, anybody :rockbrow:)...

Anyway, spent Saturday beavering away at it, editing the final 'beta cut' together, then last night I transferred over to Vegas and tweaked together the necessary changes for the 'alpha cut' and then proceeded to set it up for rendering overnight - it took 10 hours and 43 minutes  - so I had to get a rough night's kip with that computer whirring away all night, lol...but for some reason it meant I had loads of dreams...anyway...

I woke up just as it finished rendering, nice timing really, and then proceeded to try and render it out to tape, but I was in fact rendering out "to disc", so that wasted time, so I set it up to render to tape again after that delay, went and checked it, I ran out of f*cking HDD space, so now I'm moving some sh*t around to make room, then I'll have to try rendering "to tape" again (making a miniDV hard copy back-up you see, and then I can finally let my folk's check it out who've been intrigued by it for weeks now, lol)

*sigh*

All go-go-go. So this means, I'll be rendering out the theatrical version either today or tomorrow or something, and be posting it off this week to Deej. :)

Then I've gotta record the audio commentary, do another test DVD with new software, then I can actually put the whole package together! *phew*

Oh man am I gonna be glad when it's all finished, it's been a long old haul, but then I guess it was always gonna be as I was just chipping away at it in spare time, but you know how it is, you get near the end of a project and you get all tuckered out by it, so it'll be nice to get it released at long last - not long left folks. :)

I never really looked at it from your point before, you must be so familiar with it that it almost makes you sick. I am writing something at the moment and it's a similar process; reviewing what you've done and editing it for consumption - making sure that it's as polished as can be etc. At least your s**t is finished, get it out there so I can spooge all over it. :D

hehe, damn straight, it kinda wears you down after a while and you get kinda tired of always thinking about it and working on it, I'll be looking to make the production period for IAZM3 much shorter methinks, I'll be looking to regain some of that airy nature to the filming that IAZM1 had, a bit less planned and bit more "just get out there", but IAZM2 needed to be planned a lot and be more meticulous, it's how the script came out, so it's how the film had to be.

But yeah, it'll be out soon, if I can wait years for STALKER patiently, then you lot can wait a few short weeks for the IAZM2 DVD. :)

VHS isn't really my roots though, I'd done several things before that, many things in fact. :D:sneaky:

VHS-2: Long Play (actually, that's a pretty kick ass title)
VHS-2: DVD versus HD-DVD & Blu-Gay

I actually had a really neat idea for a short film the other night, nothing to do with zombies though, but it's a nifty little idea - ain't saying squat about it though, ha! I duno whether I'll even do it, just a scribble on a post-it note at the moment.
