granted it wasnt that well implemented in prey but i cant help but get a "been there done that and moved on" feeling about portal, its interesting thats its a first person puzzler rather than the normal mindblowing gunfest, but can it really be that origional for being toted at 4 horus long, resi 4 was toted by the same guys as 20 hours and 5 hours in and im almost finished so will this just be a 2 hour game?
i hope not but damn i gotta say its not looking too impressive.:dead:

Well seeing as though this is being given away as a freebie with the upcoming 360 and P$3 versions of Half Life 2, I don't think were in any position to complain about it.

i guess ,especially conpmared to team fortress which i couldnt care less about if i tried, but it was made out to be something really special, but i just think its looking very "meh" to me right now, after all those months since someone on here posted a trailer theres 0% change in the game from footage then and footage now, what else could they have been doing?

Concept is cool, and it looks fun. I'll play it before I say anything else about it though. I just hope for some really cool and complicated puzzles.

Meh, I don't give a bollocks about it, I want Ep 2 out for the PC god-friggin-damnit! Screw waiting for the console version, HL is a PC franchise, so friggin' GIVE IT!
Anyway, I thought the whole gravity/portal thing in Prey was really well implemented, about the best part of the game I felt, added a nice new dimension to proceedings (both figuratively and literally speaking) and made for nice, neat little puzzles.
Portal is no doubt just one of those momentary distractions for a day or two.

Agreed, I thought it was a good little gimmick. It's just a shame that the people behind it never gave the story as much consideration.

Agreed right back atcha, after the first few levels (about the amount you got in the generous demo) it got repetitive and boring.
There weren't enough weapons, and most, if not all, weren't that great. They had neat touches, but the novelty wore off soon and you were left with kinda naff weapons ... and not many naff weapons at that, so you feel limited.
Also, some sections got really boring (flying around in that pod type thing), and the ending went on for years, it was one boss after another when you think you're finished each time, and it was pretty gheay when:
Your girlfriend gets all manked up and you have to kill her, when she's been your reason for continuing through all the damn game

actually i thought it was a great plot twist, would you have preffered the chliche' "saving the girl and narrowly escaping an explosion"?
the whole idea of that boss fight was very dramatic and really gave the dilemma at the end a bit more "will he, wont he" feel to it.
i reckon it would have been seen as just another mediocre shooter without that plot twist.

I know what you mean but I would've preferred something with a bit more originality. The thing with Prey is that while it does offer something new, you get the feeling that you've ploughed through that s**t many times before.

cough-doom 3 engine-cough:p

Prey was on the Doom 3 engine ya numpty...
And Doom 3 was a remake of Doom 1, an old school style shooter at a time when everybody's pressured to be the next Half Life, f*ck that shiite, do what you wanna do, and the old school thrills of Doom 3 were a welcome change from all the thought and emotion you have to go through in shooters these days, it's not bad, but come on, let's have some balls out gun totin' old school fun as well...like Painkiller - muscles, guns, monsters and rock music.
And Prey was lame and boring after the first eight or so levels, and despite the "twist" I had no investment in the characters at all, so it was worthless. The novelty of Prey wears off at around the 10th level, then it's just the same stuff over and over again for the rest of the game.

I'm attempting to sate myself with Brothers in Arms for a quick revisit, maybe I'll razzle dazzle around on Painkiller, but geeeeeeeeez, come on with the STALKER through my letter box!
It's so close, and that's when it's hardest to wait for shiite.

why not play a load of **** games before hand?, then no matter how bad it could be, its guaranteed it will be awesome:D
MinionZombie

Why would I wanna waste my time playing shiite games?
And Brothers in Arms isn't sh*t hot, it's got some moments, but it's not atrocious, and I've already played a multiplayer beta of STALKER, so I've got an idea of what I'm in for.
I don't think there's many other people that have obsessed about STALKER as much as I have, I had a f*cking dream about the game t'other day.

I reckon that's a lame idea. :D
I ain't wasting time watching bullsh*t or playing wank just to make something else better, I don't get how that works, they're not the same games nor the same movies, so it shouldn't have any bearing on your reaction to whatever you're looking forward to.

So I was pissed at the time, therefore I'm blunt, but I listed the sort of game I'm into before...anyway, enough of your lip sunshine or I'll whoop yo ass with a bit stick with some nails in it.
