Here are some pics that I took at the airport that our group of four stopped at in Dawn of the Dead on their way to the Mall.

Just thought some of you might like to see them.

Philly, have you ever been to the Manor Nike Missile Site....where the exterior scenes of the underground facility in Day' were shot? I found where its at (or was?), but can not locate any pictures....northeast of Pittsburgh, directly north of Monroeville.

No, I have not been there. I wanted to go but didnt get the chance. I hope to try to go there the next time I am up in Pitt.

Does it still exist? I grew up in the northeast, many of the old Nike sites are gone. Might be looking into before you waste a trip...but it would be interesting as hell to see!

It exists, but it is a little dangerous to visit.

Why is it dangerous to visit?

It is private property, so you'll have to hop a fence. It is no longer open, so it isn't kept up. It is underground, so you have to climb down ladders with flashlights. And it was a former nuclear facility.

It sure would be an interesting trip to see that place, more so the outside. I think the inside of many of the locations were identical.

For instance, doesn't this elevator look familiar?

This site appears to have been restored in San Francisco:

Anyone have pictures of the inside the office building at the Monroeville Airport? Is that 70's coffee vending machine still in there?

well, i couldnt see inside, the blinds were closed, and i dont think anyone was even inside. there was 1 group of people there near a sesna. i asked the guy with the aviators if i could walk through the open fence door, and take a picture, and he said sure! but i would bet the machine is still in there.
