if the dead took over what sort of equipment do you think would be good for going out on raids for food and staying safe? body armor weapons etc...

i would try to use anything that would keep me as far away from them as possible. i think a sword would be a bad idea because if you get the zombie's blood or guts on you they could get you sick

I think I'd really like a genie - so I could wish for a million bullets and a rocket launcher etc etc....of course wouldn't wish for zombies to die off cos it'd be too much fun cruising around on bikes with my girlfriend decapitating people...

I have fought in armour before with a group called the sca, its pretty hot and heavy and you couldn't really wear it for long periods of time, i don't think it would be useful for fighting runners as they could chase you down and swamp you or if they were only walkers you would be better off not wearing it as speed is your best weapon against them.

as for weapons i would go for a shotgun not that i have had much experience shooting but i think the area affect and stoping power would be better than a machine gun.

As for transport it would have to be dirt bike nice and fast and its agile if you need to get away quick.

I would like to have Army issue kevlar, load-bearing equipment.A Mossberg 570 would be a very nice weapon for semi-close quarters combat.A 410 sawn is hard to find.
Even a riot shotgun/spaz... 8 in the chamber & easy to quick load.
A dirt bike, very good on gas too.

Leather or Carhart type jacket (can't bite through it), several handguns, backpack or similar gear.....guess that's it..keep it nice and light...the shotgun can stay back at the hidey-hole for now..

I find that denim prevents someone from biting you and breaking open your skin. Ultimately though if you have head to toe leather you should be more than secure. The problem is its really hot to wear it and it shrinks in the rain and its difficult to move smoothly in it. Your best bet is to wear something aerodynamically sound. It wont make noise. It clings to the skin so it wont catch on anything. So go to the Sports Authority and buy up some running gear and buy it in black. You dont want zombies to see ya and ya dont want people to see ya. They can bite through it but lets pretend we're smart enough to avoid being bitten. Travel with hiking boots that are already broken in too. Thats an essential.

I can't reccomend any weapons beyond a series of small knives that would be convenient to throw and a machete for hacking your way through the woods and through the odd zombie. Guns would only attract zombies and let other humans in on your where abouts so I think they're a mistake unless you happen to have a silencer that isn't homemade. Remember that ammo eventually runs out and is somewhat heavy and takes precious time to load up. If you're going to bring guns know every place in town within 50 miles that sells guns and has ammo and stay away. They're going to be over run with hoo ha's looking to do exactly what you want to do and I doubt they're going to get friendly with anyone they wont want to eventually sleep with.

I know they reccomend traveling with a bike but lets be serious unless you're on a tricycle its not easy to balance your weapons and strike a target. Ever go medevil with a friend on bikes and ski poles as javelins? Yeah it didnt work out too well for anyone. Plan to travel on foot after your vehicle breaks down if you dont have any water crafts.

And i'm going to stress something I haven't heard before... bring mountain climbing gear. And have a sack of talcum powder hanging off your hip at all times. We dont know how zombies would react to a bit of that sprayed into their face but i'm sure it would disorient them enough to kill the five of them surrounding you one at a time before moving on. And of course since zombies can't climb trees and most people aren't thinking of it dont be scared to hop up a tree for the night. Its a great lookout post, zombies wouldn't expect to see ya up there. Plus it will help ya in big cities scale from one building to another when they're dangerously far apart and if buildings are locked up on the main levels it will invariably help you climb up them in order to go from the roof down.
