I would have thought washers, driers and dish washers are rather common these days, especially in this cheap white goods era where everybody's all too busy spending all their money because in this country you're penalised for being thrifty and not getting into such a state that you need to be bailed out by the state...aka the taxpayer. :rolleyes::mad:

Well historically it's the men who are the breadwinners, or the key breadwinners, and a key part of being a real man is providing for your own, so if you fail to do that - what is the point in your existence? You've failed to do what is expected of you, by not only your family and other families, but by your fellow males.

It's also a kind of unspoken rule of society than proper men provide for their families, and those who do not and shirk their responsibilities are (rightly) set upon and stripped of at least part of their masculinity.

There's nothing wrong with women in the workplace, nor bringing money into the house, in this day and age with such a high cost of living (well, here in the UK at least, thanks gordo-brown, ya wanker...), but it's a key part of being a bloke - blokes get jobs, it just is...whereas women choose to work professionally or continue the traditional role (and very important role) of house keeper, the person who keeps home life ticking over and moving forward.

It's like the whole alpha male lion type thing, if you're not fulfilling your duty, you are usurped from your masculine status and relegated (in the Lion kingdom, I think the males just hang out with the females until they go to pasture or are killed off, meanwhile the blokes go off and provide for their own).

It's a very basic thing really, right at the heart of many, many species.

Oh I totally agree with you. If my man makes less than me its awkward and I actually make more money than my boy right now so I can only imagine how he feels. I'd never throw it in his face though. Here in the states depending on where you live (and given our current economy) its imperative both parts of the household work full time to afford to even eke out a living. I'd love to have a man and get mauid and be able to never work again and take on the chores of housewife and spend the rest of my free time doing charity work and enriching the lives of others with my sheer presence. But since I dont live in Wonderland I (like many women) have to settle for the simple fact that eh... sometimes you earn more than ya mate.

Toys are harmless. There's no sub for the real thing ( if the dude knows how to use it that is). I'd rather indulge her fantasies that way, rather than deny her thatbecause my "feelings" might be hurt and have her go out and experiment on her own, very possibly with another guy.
