You know sony is totally tone deaf. They just don't get it. I have a psp and i love it. It can do so many things and everything looks beautiful on it's screen. Eb games is having a sale they put about 30-40 umd's on sale for 5 bucks. That's more like it. ( i picked up resident evil 1 and 2, House of flying daggers the fifth element and dawn of the dead 78' and they all look stunning by the way.) I spent a total of 25 bucks for them when they would normally cost $100 at any other time. If all umd's where 5-10 bucks, depending if they were new releases or not, i think they'd sell like hotcakes. However that's not the case, some of them go for as high a $25 and they're totally bare bones, no extras. I mean dvd's don't even cost that much. Whose the genius at sony that thought this would be a good idea? All the commentary and even scene selection options from their dvd counterparts are M.I.A. Trust me You'll be lucky to get a subtitle option, which by the way my dawn of the dead umd doesn't have. All it has is a play option and the menu screen is one of the production stills for the movie (cheap, lazy bastards). For 20 bucks you'd think we'd get some cool stuff, right? WRONG!!! To show you how out of touch they are, the land of the dead director's cut on umd is going for $24.99 at best buy. I mean WTF? O.k., rant over....feel marginally better. :sneaky: Any theories as to why they're so expensive?

I think it's because it's sony.... the UMD's aren't gonna be easy to produce, so they need to hike up the prices of the discs.

Better buy the movies you want while they are still cheap. Sounds like the format isn't very popular outside the PSP - no telling when vendors might abandon it completely.

cuz they're greedy bastahds. u cant sell a format for more than blu ray or HD dvd and its barebones. its non sense and no ones gonna buy a PSP for the sole reason of watching a movie on a 5 inch screen.

I think sony could have done it so much better. Why would people consistently pay those prices when the only place you can watch them is on your psp? I was thinking that they could have implemented a peripheral that hooks up to the ps2 or 3 that would also allow for playback on those consoles as well. That would make much more sense and make buying umd's a more attractive option. Then i wouldn't mind shelling out the 20 or so bucks because if i wanna watch em' at home i can, conversely if i wanna take them on the road that option is open to me as well. i Guess sony's gaming division needs someone to think it up first then swoop in and rip it off.:sneaky: ( rumble feature, motion sensitivity). Poor bastards.:(

Sony are just horrible businessmen period. They used to be gold, but they're such retards nowadays... That's not the half of it, other companies at least try to better themselves when they make mistakes. Sony doesn't. The PS3 flopped bigtime, as did these UMDs. Their Betamax flopped because they wouldn't support porno... And now with the BluRays they're doing the EXACT same thing? These guys must have the memory of a goldfish and a pride they won't swallow.

Sony is also very arrogant and that turns most people off. Wasn't it them who said that they could sell 5 million consoles and not even have any games for it? They're also very polarizing. You either love them or hate them. They're like the New York Yankees of gaming. If you can't adapt you're business model to the market you're doomed. They should know atleast that much by now.

they only have UMD's in gamestation now in a plastic basket near the front, so many for 7 quid or something, the psp just doesnt sell, yet and entire 15 foot length of the store is dominated by nintendo DS games and merchandise, thats twice the amount of wallspace as the 360, xbox and ps2 and 3 times as much as the ps3 and the wii (which gamestation STILL doesnt have in , though had a blast on my freinds wii with multiplayer cookin' mama;) ).

After the last gen who'd-a-thunk that nintendo would kick this much ass this time around? See sony? Companies actually can learn and adapt.:rockbrow:

I always hear that. People are fanatical about their dreamcasts. I'd wager that more people have their old dreamcasts than any other previous gen console, they just can't let go. I never owned one personally. Alot of people say it got a bad rap/wasn't given a chance. What was so great about it? Why did it fail? I have to admit i'm a big sega fan. I had the Sega Master System and Genesis.:D

if you like arcade games get a dreamcast, it had all these wierd peripherals, not jsut a light gun but a light fishing rod, miraccas and more, it had all these great touches the current ones dont have, like memory cards with there own screen for info and they took a battery so you could download mini games onto it and take it around like a mini gameboy, my brother smashed mine with a sledgehammer but when i have a spare 20 quid im getting my ass down to gamestation.

I remember the Dreamcast was great. I used to play House of the Dead 2 on that thing. Good times, good times.

This thread gave you a jones for it, huh? lol Atleast it served some purpose. Sega did have some good consoles though. I kick myself all the time for not treating my master system and genesis better. I was a kid though, what did i know?
