He was one of the last of the celebrity critics. With the age of the internet people like him, rex reed and roger ebert are becoming less relavent all the time. These guys really know movies and what makes them great. However, I used their reviews more like guides than to treat their word as gospel. There have been a few times where a critic totally dissed a movie only to find that i kinda like it. All that aside, it's sad when anyone passes. R.I.P. Joel. :(
