It's the only zombie flick that I've heard of in which someone make a ray gun from VCR parts which sounds very close to what you're looking for. But a more detailed descrip would be good so others can help out.

I swear i must have mentioned it a millon times,i bought it years ago on vhs.
I'll just say after viewing this, Taco Bell doesn't have anything on this movie i had the shiiits for a week!
