Anyone like some really old movies? I'm not talking about the Night of the Living Dead I think we all know we enjoy that but I mean like...

Shadow of a Doubt (1943)
Vertigo
Marnie
How to Beat the High Cost of Living

There's something about older movies that I like... perhaps its because the lack of special efx they have to make up for with a worthy script and good acting I dunno... anyone wanna reccomend a few oldies but goodies?

double indemnity, my favourite noir film and it pretty much stands the test of time, well worth looking up if you can find it.

oooo I've seen it! That IS a good one... right now i'm trying to track down the two Rear Window movies... the origional and the remake from I think the 70s or 80s with Superman.

I also really like old vampire movies like Nosferatu...

I can understand that. One can't deny it's impact on future films though. It looks as though m. night shamaylan could have directed it.

Gun Crazy is a great 50s Noir film
Public Enemy with James Cagney is one of my all time favorites along with the roaring 20s, White heat and dead End
Seven Samurai
All Quiet On the Western Front is STILL pretty hardcore.

Double Indemnity is GREAT too.
Im into A lot of Hitchcock. I like Psycho AND the Birds. REar Window is one of my favs along with Vertigo.

La Grand Illusion (1937) by Renoir is another Classic

The BEst Years of Our lives is a great Coming home type of After the War film that is more realistic than most of the others until the 70s. The Pat happy ending is lame but its still great.

I love the Old films

I dont really get the deal with m.night shymalan... his movies (IMO) aren't that great. I knew what the Village was about in the first five minutes. I thought Signs was stupid. And dont get me started on the Lady in the Water.

Seven Samurai - It has a good plot and it still works as an actionfilm. No fancy action, mind you, but it's more in the suspense. Great flick.

Once Upon a Time in the West - You know all those films where people say "This could have been made now, and I wouldn't have noticed. It hasn't aged at all!"? Well, I always call that bull****. But with this film? It's from 1968, but I swear it could just as easily have been from 1995 before the digital revolution! Top it off, it's also the best western ever made.

Casablanca - I really think it's one kickass film. It's got such a smooth, easy going pace that you can't help but be charmed with. Bogey's best film if you ask me.

-gone with the wind
I always thought Gone with the Wind really sucked. I didnt see it until I was in my late 20s. I hated the "yassah Boss" Black people (I know its from the 40s, but so what), the main characaters were asswipes. I wanted to punch Scarlet. I found the whole thing extremely boring. I truly dont get the adulation
