Well I feel well rested and eager to jump back into the filming fold once again. I have drafted a 17 page screenplay titled THE ESCAPE which is DIE HARD meets RETURN of the LIVING DEAD.
The script is in it's initial draft and I have been tweaking it as I go along. So far those whom have read it seem to like it. I have been asked by one person to expand on it a little more, by about 15 pages. Which I will most likely do, but as it stands it could be done off this draft.
I am going to budget it around $10,000 simply because I think I will need that much do to the sheer amount of zombies needed. The script calls for at least 500 members of the walking dead and 95% of the film takes place inside a multiplex theater.
I have also introduced a twist for my zombies. yes they will RUN, but the new twist is something, if executed right, will be a nice thing to see evolve in the film.
If everything goes right I should be able to start shooting this in October of 2007 and have it done by Spring 2008. I am serving as writer and director, I will most likely serve as a composer once again as well. As the news progresses I will keep you all posted.

Hey Minion... got a question. I was talking with Lou Cipherr today on the phone and we talked about this screenplay which yes will be a short film however I wanted to give a nod to zombie man... do you mind if he makes an appearance in THE ESCAPE?
He will be in the background, like a where's WALDO, but Lou and I thought it would be comical to see him make his American movie appearance as a member of the zombie crew in THE ESCAPE.

yep 10K for a short, it may not be 100% all my money though, but still this script requires a shed load of zombies and some other set pieces I can't go into at the moment.
DEADLANDS: With a Vengance is still waiting to be made. I just need something else to crack my teeth on right now. Nice burn BTW. =)

Sweet. 10k, pre-DVX costs sounds like a hell of a short.
Nice burn BTW. =)

Very cool on the zombie man permission. As I said he won't be front and center more of a in the background type thing.

Would be funny to see him talk about his trip to Maryland and being a part of a zombie uprising.
In other news, I have just completed a second draft adding 7 more pages and another 2 characters to the script. This may end up turning into another mini feature by the time I do the third draft.

UPDATE - The 4th and final draft of the script is complete. I have sent it to the producers and potential actors for the film. Hell even MZ got a chance to read the 2nd draft and as a bonus I sent him the 4th just so he can stay in the loop.
Once a filming date has been set firm I will let you all know and those of you willing to travel to Maryland will always have a welcome spot as a member of the UNDEAD.

Another UPDATE:
Casting Calls have went out for THE ESCAPE yesterday and we have already had an influx of emails from potential cast members. From the time I posted the casting call at 3pm I was received 30 emails in 2 hours, now thats not bad and is usually typical in this area. I am going to give the casting call another week and see what comes down, then I will schedule the camera tests... and boom start getting the production meetings underway.
We expect to roll on THE ESCAPE in Late September, and probably release it in spring 2008.
