I actually remember trying to call it as a kid and it not working. I think that's the whole point of having 555 numbers in movies. I'll tell you what though. I'll bet that burt sure regrets calling it. That man thought that the cavalry was coming. lol

555 numbers were used in movies because they nevar actually used the 555 in real phone numbers, but now that phone numbers are being eaten up with cell phones en masse the phone companies are starting to use them.

It might work now even though it didn't work in the past.

The original films tanks did not have a 555 number. I think part 2 started the 555 number.

I think dj is right. I can't recall the number from the original but part 2 was on the other day and it was definitely a 555 number.

I just dialed that number and the recording says that it has been connected to a new national directory service and to be redirected to it it would cost me six bucks to some number in Nevada. 10-15-15-800 702 555-1212. If anybody wants to try it let me know how it works out for ya.
