The long-awaited Wolverine film has taken one more step toward getting made, as Gavin Hood, the man who directed the 2005 Best Foreign Film Tsotsi, has been tapped to direct the feature. Hugh Jackman is on board, and the script is apparently right and ready, so we're close to getting shooting.
The film will apparently be a blend of the Wolverine origin story, with a heavy dose of Weapon X thrown in for good measure. Wolvie fans will most likely have a geekgasm when they hear that some of the source material will also include the Frank Miller Weapon X series. We await more news...with bated breath.

Tsotsi wasn't that good. Just because it was south african doesn't make it any less of an ordinary genre-film. The setting was interesting. The plot was not.

I just hope it's going to be better than the x men films. As much as i wanted to love them i just couldn't. There was something missing but i can't put my finger on exactly what it is. They were just a letdown for me.

Really? I thought X-men was adequate, considering all the ground they had to cover and X-2 was solid. X-3 sucked, however.

Funny , i can't picture even wild horses dragging you anywhere.

Like i sadi there's just something missing. It's the same way i feel about land. It fell shoet when it could have been so much more. Maybe it's that human vs. mutant thing that has been run through the ground for 3 films. I'll take a secret wars/infinity gauntlet storyline any day.

I'm starting to think that it has nothing to do with who directs the films. 95% of them turn out to be crap anyway. They need better writers and storyline. I mean how many times did it take to get the batman franchise right?

it was never "wrong" in the first place. u buy the rights with YOUR money its how u want it to be. its not like the franchise lost money like they said. they were HUGE money makers

imo those movies suck. I feel the same way about land, but what you say is right. It was gar's film to do with what he wished. That still doesn't mean i have to like it or have to agree with the direction he took the franchise in.

among the things i do for love... getting dragged to movies i dont like... which is funny because my boyfriend wouldn't tolerate sitting through Valley Girl or an episode of Melrose Place... and yet I endure XMen and Star Wars and those LOTR movies... :barf:

It's nice to know that there's a heart beating in your chest somewhere.
Turnabout is fairplay. A movie for a movie i say. I bet he'll think twice about dragging you to one if he knows he has to sit through THE LAKEHOUSE!! .

I am quite a fan of X-Men and X-Men 2. But X-Men 3 was awful. It ranks with Hostel as the worst films i saw last year. Brett Ratner is weak. I don't see why we need a Wolverine film anyway. I guess it's Marvel whoreing again.

I thought X2 was the worst of the bunch, myself. X1 and X3 I enjoy.

That's easily the worst line in a movie in recent memory. Indicative of the entire film imo.

All i want to say is X-Men 3 and Vinnie Jones.
I felt embarassed watching that.
Vinnie Jones wants to start paying back society for all the oxygen he has been stealing all these years.

And the thing a bout it is that it's only a matter of time before they make another one. There's no end to the things they woud do for money. Even taint what's probably the best team of mutant super heroes ever. Oh, well i'll always have my comic back issues to remind me what the franchise is supposed to be like. :)
