bit of a mission report for anyone who's interested

aye so i hitched a lift with my mates south af and captain Jake to Reading on friday, got pissed up in the car, and a couple hours later arrived at the turks pub in reading to see semi-legendary UK blackened death metal satanists AKERCOCKE play a secret warm up show

it were reet grand, there were about twenty people there

(all pictures were taken by their merchandise girl, who was really quite sound)

you can see my glowing staring eyes in this one

after the gig i went out to a few different pubs and clubs with some people i met in reading, got horrendously drunk and thrown out of a club (the purple turtle) and stopped a fat man from beating up his girlfriend (this is why i have a bruise on my face in the next one)

the next morning i woke up in a car park with south af & jake, said goodbye to them and got on a train to london.

later on i arrived in camden, got a subway and then went into the world's end and proceeded to get pissed with this bloke

and some other people

later on, about 4.30pm, the underworld doors opened and i went in there and started drinking some more, although i slowed down a bit because it was more expensive.

there were a bunch of bands, most were a bit gash, although kingsize blues and ted maul were great.

i spent a while chatting to akercocke & kingsize blues' merchandise girls, who were both very cool young ladies indeed. in fact the akercocke girl took advantage of the two drunk bastards waffling on at her by getting us to look after the merch stand while she went for a smoke or something

then came the AK themselves, and it was a sweaty, hot, violent hour or so down the front for me, an excellent set, whole of the first album but nothing off the fourth! bit of a shame but they still owned.

then i went outside, argued with some italian dudes about whether all metallers today are pussies or not, met up with my mate darth, went for a few beers and a chicken burger, sat up chatting for a while and passed out.

next morning i waffled on for a while to darth but i was still drunk so i dont remember much, then i jumped on a few buses and trains home.

job bloody done. the 2nd gig was filmed for a dvd and recorded for a live album so ill be on that.

mike pizoff if youre reading i suggest you get the new Ak cause it owns (although not as much as "words that go unspoken, deeds that go undone" and one of the bonus tracks is a cover of "leprosy" by death. drool

I'll admit, I did have a giggle at the name for a second, but I'll *ahem* and straighten my collar as I get serious...but I am the sort of bloke who laughs are farts and belches, so it's expected really, anything with "cock" in the name is up for a giggle from me.

Regardless, sounds like you had a blast, a full-on weekend mish all round by the sounds and looks of things.

 apparently its coincidentally a slag term for some kind of... injury ... in a european language.

however the name comes from the capuchin monkey in Nye's Faust ;)

bloody good band if you like that sort of thing though, the new video is a good one

Not sure of the one you mean, but now I've got "Sick Sick Sick" stuck in my noggin, but it is a good song.

I always knew Liam was inherently evil...:rockbrow:

I know you're on about "burn the witch", what I'm saying is I can't remember how it goes...I'll have to search for it in my WinAmp...but what I also meant was, that you talking about QOTSA put their new single "sick sick sick" into my head, yeah? :p

Awesome story, Liam. I'm gonna check out the new album as soon as possible; very awesome about the cover of Leprosy and I hear there is also a Chapel Of Ghouls cover!!!

there is ;) and it's fairly different to the original morbid angel one, although they managed to get the guitar tone on the solos pretty close to the original, which is fanboy-tastic
