I'd like to have seen the calf running off into the sunset... God it must have been chomped up pretty bad! I hope it survived!

It seemed okay when it got up, probably mauled a bit, but if it had been really badly hurt it would have surely limped badly or not even got up...that's what I'd think anyway.

Perhaps the lions were playing with their food or something, or sensed something was about to go down and so were just keeping their food in place until they were sure, but then the buffalo or whatever they are (I'm so rubbish with names of things :p) came back and ro-sham-bo'd them for their calf back.
