The obviously don't adhere to international law regarding the right to salvage. Luckily, I think us yanks properly hid the fortune before they were accosted by the governmentally sanctioned thieves.:D

Actually, it very well may adhere to salvage law. If Spain is right that the ship was a crown vessel prior to sinking, the right of salvage likely doesn't apply.

I'll take your word on this. I wonder what would happen if the ship were a pirate ship with stolen Spanish gold?

In any event, it will be entertaining to see how this plays out.

Actually spain is an arse regarding the ocean,they stripped the english coast of all its fish stocks while our boats are only allowed about a mile or so out to see!and of course our cuddly EU friends said they could do it while slapping the english fleet with sanctions,therefore crippling our fishing industry.The EU,ya gotta love 'em :rolleyes:

I don't know about the pirate ship situation (I imagine salvage would be applicable), but the principle with government ships is that they're more or less considered to be sovereign territory of the state that operates them, even after they've been sunk.
