she's gonna let all US citizens be under the healthcare plan which makes a LOT of sense. no one who isnt legal here deserves money im playing into the system everyday, especially when they can start businesses and have no tax

i don't know man...i'm not to keen on the idea of universal health care, even if it is only for legalized us citizens.

too many fat lazy americans would burden this system with their half-dozen welfare babies and diabetes. plus you gotta think of all the alcoholics, meth-monkeys, crack-heads, etc who'd be lining up to waste our tax dollars to get themselves healthy and well for another couple decades of abusing their bodies. and then you've also got all the whiny people who want to spend thousands of dollars prolonging the inevitable to keep their 95-year old parents alive and suffering while hooked up to machines. an alarming % of money spent on healthcare is spent keeping people in their twilight alive for another 2 or 3 years....for what?

there's way too many other things for the government to spend $ on, and i don't like the thought of how much such a plan would cost the individual taxpayer.

I think this already occurs...most of the people already on some form of welfare are currently using some form of govt. subsidized health care. So we are already paying for those people.

This is an example of election time posturing and badly applied socialist theory.

I can say that socialized medicine, in theory, sounds great but in reality will be a disaster, a least with the US government at the helm. Any visit to a government run organization here in the US will fill your day with a bunch of apathetic civil servants, bureacracy and red tape.

Skippy is correct: The government already subsidizes health care to a large level, and those without health insurance are already allowed to go to the hospitals and doctors. I am a working man who slaves over 50 hours a week and can barely afford my own coverage. I certainly cannot afford to pay more to the government (I pay enough already) to support others without accountability.

this is so true...when i got out of the service, i had to get some dental work done, and ended up almost having to pay the entire bill myself to keep it from harming my credit score, when in actuality, the government was supposed to pick up the entire tab.

so that was finally taken care of after numerous phone calls and bitch-sessions from me, and then that left me with the final part of the process, the removal of my wisdom teeth...which i had to travel 3 hours distance to get done, since it was the closest place that worked with the department of veteran's affairs that could do the work.

i think that privatized medicine and health operations ensure quality in both service and the employees of hospitals, doctors offices, etc. if the government took over and socialized the medical field....it would be a joke.

You'd get free health care in the UK, we have 10's of 1000's of health tourists coming here every year...it's not right.

Welcome to the UK...worlds number one mugs and providers of free stuff to anybody and everybody who pitches up on our shores.

Funny, my worthless diabetic ass seemed to come in handy while serving this pissant country in military service. Oh, but I suppose I asked to inherit this condition! Maybe I wanted to have to take shots every day! What fun.

Should I line up for the mass grave now, or later? Me and the rest of these damn diabetics.

daaaaaammmn...chill out man...you've put your time in, so you rate benefits, the way i see it. when i talk about diabetics, i am referring to those who develop the disorder due to poor diet, lack of exercise, and general apathy about their health.

my grandfather was a diabetic, so i don't automatically hate/detest everyone who has diabetes, because i realize that there is a strong genetic link to diabetes...however,

"The growing American diabetes epidemic is Type 2 diabetes. Between 90 and 95 percent of all cases of diabetes in this country are Type 2. Historically, Type 2 was a disease of old age and late middle age. It’s onset is more gradual than that of Type 1, and can take years to fully develop, but if unchecked can have the same consequences. And while there are other factors associated with Type 2, the two greatest risk factors, by far, are obesity and lack of physical activity. Type 2, until very recently, was extremely rare in children and adolescents. Only one or two percent of children with diabetes had Type 2 previously. In the 1990s, there was an alarming increase in the rates of Type 2 diabetes among children; now almost ten percent of children with diabetes have Type 2. In some high risk groups, almost 50 percent of diabetic children are Type 2. And fully 85 percent of all children with Type 2 diabetes are obese.

The rate of childhood obesity in America is itself a national scandal and a tragedy, and doctors are now calling it an epidemic, too. And this epidemic of childhood obesity has led directly to the epidemic of Type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents. And when we say “obese”, we’re not talking about a few pounds of baby fat. Obesity is not being merely overweight—it’s being severely overweight. When most of us (50ish) were growing up, it was rare to see an obese child. We all knew a few chubby kids who bought their clothes in the “Husky” section of the children’s department, but there weren’t many of them, and most of us can’t recall hardly any kids of our generation who were really obese. But if you’ve been to a mall lately, or driven by a school playground at recess, you know how prevalent this problem is these days. Americans have begun getting much, much fatter in the past two decades, and our children have too. Fully one third of children in America are obese. Think of it—one child in three in this country is severely overweight. And every one of them is at risk for Type 2 diabetes."

this is from: http://health-co-op.com/articleswp/2006/12/27/type-2-diabetes-a-top-deadly-preventable-dysfunctions/ and there's more to read if you've got the time.

anywho, this is the group that i don't want my tax dollars supporting, as this is something that can be avoided with personal initiative. sorry you took offense, thanks for your service.
