I thought I had seen practically all of the GAR zombie ripoffs, but am finding that there are quite a number that I had missed or never heard of. Great advice comes from you good folk on what I shouldn't spend my money on. Just wish I had known about Contagium before shelling out cash just to get burned!

Perhaps some of the veteranos here might indulge us with a list of "must see" ghoul films. Not necessarily a list of all time favorites, but a nice viewing list for those of us who are not as culturally literate, including a list of "stupid- do not view" films that unenlighted folks like me might be forewarned against wasting time or money on. Any direction would be appreciated!

what comes to mind right now is:

zombi
the living dead at the manchester morgue
zombie flesheaters (including the obligatory 1st 15 mins in new york like every italian horor flick from the 70's )
the return of the living dead series
contagium
night 90'
dawn '04
day of the dead 2
day '07...or '08 as the case may be
and resident evil, as technically the games were inspired by romeros movies.

Thanks, brother hellsing. I assume that is a "stay away" list from the inclusion of Contagium.

That Manchester morgue flick is hard to find...is it even on DVD?

I keep meaning to get the Resident Evil movies, I really enjoyed all the games and would get them just for that (and Sienna Guillory playing Jill Valentine in the flesh). :sneaky:

In the interest of cultural literacy, why not take a look at some of the genre films that inspired Romeo's first effort, rather than the subsequent rip-offs?

Invisible Invaders (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052929/) (1959)
Last Man on Earth (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058700/)(1964)
The Killer Shrews (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052969/) (1959)
The Flesh Eaters (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058101/) (1964)

Invisible Invaders (1959)
That film is impossible to get in the UK, I have tried many times.

I love Omega man, I don't care if it's not faithfull to the book, it's got "the Chuck" in it, empty post apocalyptic landscapes and muties that need to be killed...what more could you ask?

I will be picking up 28 days & 28 weeks before crimbo. I felt that 28 days was a decent flick, not seen 28 weeks, but I shall get it anyway.

"The Last man on Earth" is available as a double pack (with "panic in the year zero") from Amazon US, will be picking those up as well.
