Well, I can finally saw that I own a screen-used prop. I got this one off of Ebay. It is a severed head prop that was used in the remake of Dawn of the Dead from 2004. Unfortunately, the seller could not tell me where exactly this was used in the film and my copy is out in Las Vegas right now. I plan to examine the film closely to see if I can spot where this would have been used at. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

This piece is foam filled, and is missing the eyes. It is very detailed for what it is. The skin and mouth really stand out as being disturbingly realistic. It's very hard to tell how this was used in the film. Was it used for a stunt? It does have a gash above the right eye that looks to have been made with a sharp object. And it is very sticky, which indicates that stage blood had gotten on it. Ah well, I suppose that will be half the fun of this piece is finding out more information about it. But I'm just glad that I actually own something that was used in the film, instead of a replica. Oh, and I forgot to take pics of the COA, but I have one.

Anyways, enjoy!

Nice Prop head.

I collect movie props but I would be skeptical it was in the Dawn of the Dead remake -I remember seeing that auction - afterall they gave you a coa saying it was screen used but they don't know where in the film it was screen used? Why would anyone (seller) put their name on a COA like that?

Just remember just because something comes with a COA doesn't necessarily mean it's accurately represented. Anyone can make up a COA. The paper is only worth the reputation of the person whose name is on it. If it's not a well established prop dealer it means very little unless you can get a screen match.

I hope you are able to find it in the film.

I've been a collector for quite some time. I usually know what to watch out for. The COA looks legitimate to me. And the quality of this peice I really think is proof enough as I really don't see this sort of realism in other sculpted peices (I am also a mask/bust collector too).

I have to disagree as I don't know how to tell a coa looks legitimate when there was no contact information (no address or phone number) on the COA just a dealer name of autographed memorabilia I never heard of or could find online with a COA signature I couldn't even read to tell who signed it.

Let us know if you find it in the film as it's a nice prop head - I'm just not convinced about the background when I saw the auction. It will be cool if you find it.
