I think this may have a little to do with 'I Am Legend' and 'The Omega Man'...

Okay - I was waiting for someone to mention this film.

The company that put this out, Asylum Films, is based in Los Angeles - they are a very nice and smart group of filmmakers. They have a fascinating business model. Basically, whatever the big Hollywod film that's out in theaters - they put out a low budget version of a similiar movie. The above example is a good one - also a good one - Transmorphers! Another good one they did a few years back....War Of The Worlds starring C. Thomas Howell. And as the actual book is PD, no sweat in using it as a story! Also out now - AVH - Alien Versus Hunter!

And the best part, these guys make the movies, sell the movies and continue to make movies THEIR way. No studios, no executives - just themselves. They must have two or three movies at a time on the shelf at Blockbuster.

Check out their site here - http://www.theasylum.cc/

So, I've actually seen I Am Omega. And you know what? I found to be as fun as the big blockbuster movie. If you want a fun viewing experience, I highly recommend it. It has the true spirit of indie horror filmmaking.

So, dem's my comments for you.

So what would you estimate the budget of this film to be out of interest?

Because they're people, physically there...without the rubbery-stretchy-jaws. :p

Aye I thought the beasties looked good, it also looks pretty good as well, proper indie quality.

Man....that's hilarious. I bet the people behind that are proud to have made such an original and appealing film.

They made Omega once they knew that Legend was being made in order to cash in on it. Just like Alien Vs. Hunter and Transmorphers.....They're really passionate about their work.

i have a lot more respect for these guys than i do for the rest of hollywood.
and if memmory serves correct, that version of war of the worlds was in production for nearly a year before spielberg anounced his. he even put the project he was working on at the time on hold so he could rush his version to get it out before the independant version. what a wank.
