Copying music from a CD to a home computer could be made legal under new proposals from the UK government.

I play all my music (in our lounge) via a wireless Squeezebox, so all my music in a server/PC... I would just have to break the law I guess :dead::annoyed:

thats taking away basic civil rights. i could see copying for profit being illegal but this is nuts

How exactly are they going to enforce this? Station a government dick in your house to monitor what you put onto your computer?

I remember a few years back, Orrin Hatch talked about wanting to make people's computers explode if they copied copyrighted material on them. Be nice if the 'puters played the Mission Impossible theme when doing this.

Although isn't there something in America where it actually is the opposite of this and they want to make criminals out of people who rip music of their own paid-for CDs to their computers? Geez...

I believe that the law in America allows an individual to make a legal backup copy of his/her digital media.

shame you cant do this with ps2 games as mine have a habit of getting scratched by my console, after all i paid for these games so why cant i make a back-up copy to protect my investment...
