US folks- who is the best senator...

i think this goes hands down (i can't believe i am about to speak well of a republican but here goes) to susan collins from maine. based on her voting record in the senate, she is one of the few people that seems to vote based on what she thinks is right/best for the country as a whole. in short she doesn't vote along party lines and has broken many, many times with the republican establishment and voted along with the opposing aisle in the senate.

wikipedia has its faults but the page about her is pretty good.

Those people are few and far between. What's even worse is the amount of voters who vote not for themselves but for what is better for the country.

Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. That saying has pretty well lost its meaning today.
