Hilarious!

Personally I like this one:
http://www.taurususa.com/newsreviews/CH1203_000.cfm

It had been suggested to me by eyebiter on a thread a while back, but I have looked into it since and want one when I can afford it...which will probably be never, but still nice to dream.

I think one would need a few weapons the h&k would be good for close quarters combat, and the Raging thirty is an interesting idea, but head shots are a lot harder in person than in the films. I think a long range weapon and a short range weapon are needed...I think the M4 is a good choice it is light small and can hit targets at 400 yards as well as red dot sighted at close combat. And the .223 or 5.56 caliber bullet has almost no recoil. But take a look at a ruger 10/22 ...that would be nice also. There would only be a need to shoot through the skull not blow the whole head off...and after having shot a lot of .454 casual loads this is not a Sunday drive.

I have to agree that the 10/22 is a good way to go. Have owned one since I was a kid and it is a great rifle, durable & accurate and as far as portability goes, you can't really beat a Ruger 10/22. You could tote a couple thousand rounds with no issue.

I became interested in the idea of having a rifle and a reliable pistol in the same caliber and my initial idea was to marry an M-1 carbine with a Ruger Blackhawk in .30 cal, when it had been suggested that I would be better off with the Raging Thirty, which I previously did not know about. The payoff would be the double action ability of the pistol (as opposed to the Blackhawks conventional single) and the ability to use half moon clips which would speed up reloading (as opposed to the cumbersome task of reloading a Blackhawk cartridge by cartridge)

In rethinking it, one would probably be ok with simply toting a Ruger 10/22 and a couple of .22 cal pistols -- maybe a Ruger Mark II and a nice Smith and Wesson revolver or something along those lines. Just not sure about the .22 being able to be an effective manstopper -- zombies might not be the only thing you need to drop and if a meth crazed looter came charging at me with a machete in his hand it is possible that I might put six .22 slugs into his chest and still not stop him. Yeah, he will probably die from the wounds eventually, but I venture to guess that two Elmer Keith style .30 slugs in the ten ring would have more immediate stopping power than a .22.

I agree, though! The .454 Casul is overkill!

I am not a huge fan of the Mark II (I do own one) It does not have the capacity of a 9mm (which I am not that fond of) nor the stopping power as you had mentioned above. I think a couple good 9mm pistols would be sufficient to scare and or do enough harm to any one or any thing...that saddled with the 10/22.

I would want me and my group to have one or two of these. Everything should go smoothly from there. :D

I haven't really though about practical weapons much, it's safe to say I'd go for some sort of rifle (like suggested in The Zombie Survival Guide)...

However, if we're talking gung-ho zombie slaying my WWII interest has to come in, and I'd go for the PPSh-41. 900 rpm, 71 round drum magazine, and very little recoil. :D

Think that would probabaly slow you down a lot more than just a bit!
Pretty sure that super swat piece was a joke (who the hell would accessorize to that degree), as well as the other one, or someone out there is getting rich off the stupidity of the American Consumer.

True that! You come from Los Angeles, so you know those SWAT dudes are hardcore. All they need to grease someone is a fierce scowl, with a pocket knife to back it up.

I think I already have the perfect set-up right here in my flat. I have my Kimber 1911 in .45 acp (stop anything I need it to at 35 meters) My Russian AK-47 with a folding solid stock not the top folding wire one. My Mossberg 500 12 Ga. with a fore grip a heat shield a pistol grip swat stock and a Magazine adapter making it 8 and 1. I also have my good old Mosin Nagant M-44 for my long distance work.

This not even being all my guns mind you.

I would personally stray from the .22lr because the point is to destroy the brain not just Pierce the skull which the .22 LR has trouble with even at 50 Meters. Also I would try to stray from Wheel guns personally because they are slow low capacity and the kick is worse than the same calibre in an auto.

In My opinion if you are a civvie and don't have much Experience with firearms go with either a 1911 .45 acp and an AK-47 or if your looking for ammo compatibility a Colt AR carbine in 9MM and a P220 Sig in 9MM Both reliable and can do what you need em to in 80 meters and below.

Also here is my take on the AR/M-16 and the AK

Hey IRA, just curious: What sort of feedback can you give me on the Mosin Nagant? I've been seeing them in local stores retailing at under $90.00 and have been toying with idea of picking one up for the hell of it.

I personally own 2 of them. I would go for the M-44 Carbine they are Marginally lighter and a little bit shorter but still have all the Muzzle velocity of the M-38. The rounds are heavy hitters at 7.62x54R they also have a max kill range at around 850 meters if your a good shooter. They are fairly cheap to if you go to cheaperthandirt.com you can buy a 440 round sealed case for about $70 and more often than not you end up getting Yugo silver tips (steel core armor piercing rounds) About the Weapon itself they are (excuse the pun) Bullet proof, they have a good heavy stock and a sturdy bolt that can be broken down and cleaned then reassembled in under 2 minutes. loading wise you got a Internal 4 plus 1 magazine. There is a company now that sells fiberforce composite stocks and a scope rail so you can dress her up a bit or even turn it into a scout rifle. All around a damn fine buy for $86. I am personally turning my second one into a survival rifle for the trunk of my car I am gonna cut down the buttstock into a slanted pistol grip and cut the barrel down about 5 inches in front of the action I figure it would be a fun project something to bring to a gun show at least.

I say if you got the extra cash go for it youll thank me later or kill me cause of the recoil LOL:D!! But even that has been conquered by the bolt on Compensaters you can buy online but then you have to remove the built in tent steak Bayonet :(

I would stay away from guns in the LONG run unless I had a way to make bullets. The guns would need maintainence and may fail under adverse conditions. I would go old school with the chain link protection, full armor, and upgrade to the Hattori Hanzo sword for good measure.

This would be way more fun than a long range gun. Think of the close combat you could have...

Heres a few of mine...although I would think, as I stated in other threads, a good .22 Cal. carbine with a large magazine would be super.

...no no no...

What you want is an M-1D Garand. Maybe a 20-gauge shotgun with tight load. An AK is alright, I suppose. On semi-auto, with slow shots. A .22 long rifle for close range.

I'd say maybe a Dragunov for long range, but the ammo would be few and far between. A Remington Model 700 if they can still be found, but ditto as above. Not much ammo.
