All his films have almost the same picture on the box,van dammes head in the foreground, with a massive fireball & some helicopters in the background, bit like seagal
another dent in van damme is the fact he sported that permed mullet in "hard target" *shudders*

His films are strangely watchable though,if ones on TV (universal soldier tonight uk folks) il end up watching it

Martial Arts are about building reflex reactions. Doing the same thing over and over and over again until the reaction is automatic. When I was doing Karate a friend of mine through a joke punch at me and I literally did not think and block it. I block it hard and actually hurt him resulting in quite a nice bruise on his arm as well.

Now, as you say street fighting is a different animal to a 'controlled' martial arts fight. BUT, reflexes and speed and being at least some what used to a situation are very important...

That said, I suspect your average boxer would fair far better in a street fight that your average Karate expert. Maybe your average Judo guy would do best of all?

Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
