there were only 25,000 or so isds built during palpatines reign. Tie fighters were swarm craft, being individually inferior in almost every way to other craft, and storm troopers (the elite of the emperors military I may add) were hideuosly ineffective verses most anything. (The Movies count as teir 1 canon btw, so it pretty much over-rides the EU stuff. I hate to admit it...).

I'm a fan of star wars, but i'll stick to my imperium thanks :P

I grew up watching the original star trek reruns on tv and loved it.

But once Star Wars was released that did it for me.

    Star Wars.

    Or, put it another way:

Those "mutha funkers"... Are they Ewok proof? Wow, that's one kick ass empire.

    Star Trek all the way!

It's pretty funny you mention that though. In the expanded universe, There is a bit on Storm trooper armour being near immune to most melee weapons/ballistics. I cannot remember what book it was from, but basically, a storm trooper was having his armours resiliance to a thrown spear tested. They had a battle droid of some sort throw the spear, with a force of something like 400x as powerful as any living creature could throw one, and the trooper was hurled back a good 20 feet from the impact the spear made. The only damage was a tiny nick in the armours breast section and the trooper was unhurt.

If I can find the source i'll post it, but it gives a good indication of how the strength of the armour was retconned to be well, usefull.

but yes, the ewoks killed an entire legion of storm troopers and at-sts, with rocks and sticks and spears.

I don't really view that as retconning, as a fanboy (the author) desperatly trying to make up for past SW mistakes.

I don't see it as a mistake because I only like the films. If one were to enjoy the films but not read the books, the books mean nothing.

I really had no problem with the ewoks taking the storm troopers. The troopers were out numbered, anyway.
