I give up... Hollywood is mad... 'The Incredible Shrinking Man'...

...So this was a pretty scary and bleak 1950s scifi film... Written by our beloved Richard Matheson of course!

So in the 2010 remake, we have starring... *drum roll*... Eddie Murphy!

So, the ending will have to be different to start with, because it's can't end so bleakly!!

The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam. So, the ending? Returns to normal size?

...and the comical twist in the last scene is the next day he gets up, and tries to put his slippers on, to find he's now a bit too big to fit in them... ie: He's now growing instead of shrinking

Yeah, to be honest, when I read what you wrote, Neil, I just nodded my head in a tired and disconsolate manner. Very good prediction.
